I went to my "Mini" group today. Finished must of the piecing for 8 blocks for a "Square in a square" sampler that one of my friends is teaching. Hopefully will get these blocks done this weekend. I already have 3 blocks done. These are (8") blocks. Still will have 14 more to go for the quilt my friend designed. We are checking out here requirements and instructions. (I hope the yardage is correct, for 0ne of my fabrics is almost gone, I I do not have any more, and it is an older fabric. Will see how it goes. I will let you know.

I spent about an hour today washing fat quarters. I bought some drawers at The Container Store a couple of days ago. I decided that I would wash all my fat quarters before putting them away again so that when I want to use them, they're ready to go. So I rinsed them all in the sink and now they are in the dryer. Then maybe on Monday or so, I will iron them and fold them and put them in the new drawers. I will probably have to buy more, I had a lot more than I thought I did.
Frances
(Sun) I pulled them all out of the dryer this morning. 113 fat quarters and a few quarter yard cuts. I'll be busy ironing tomorrow.

I I got close to finishing the last two quarters of the Bella quilt I am making for my brother's upcoming wedding, and yesterday I got a quilt I am making for my Uncle prepared for basting and quilting (the KingTut thread that I found is just awesome). All in all, I got some good quilt time in!

I mostly cleaned my kitchen today... the floor was sticky with something and was driving me nuts. I did make some flannel baby receiving blanket for my grandson. I was suppose to work on my BARGELLO quilt but only got some strips cut out. I am trying to interview the colors before I cut into my fabrics. I hope to work on it tomorrow.

I got a bit more free-motion quilting done on a child-size quilt for our local version of Linus Quilts called Aransas County Quilts for Kids. That was this morning, then in the afternoon, Mom, DB, and DSIL went with us to see "Mamma Mia", which we loved, and came back here for leg of lamb and the fixin's.

Nothing done yesterday, but today I did finish the 8 blocks for my "Square in the Square" sampler which I had partially done on Friday. So now I have 11 out of 25 done. (I hope one of the fabrics will stretch for the rest.) I have a feeling that there was a mistake in the fabric requirements for the class. (I do not have anymore of that one fabric, which is quite a few years old, and do not know the maker of the fabric.)

Margarita,
I bet the original fabric you choose is the PERFECT FABRIC for your quilt, but, since you only have about half of your blocks done maybe you could substitute a different fabric for the fabric in short supply. You can then alter the placement of the two blocks set . That might make it look like a design choice rather than a mistake. I know it would all depend upon the original design of the quilt. This might be a good time to sit back and think about what you can do if you are short fabric.
I find I do RE- DESIGN a lot with my quilting because I am always running short of fabric for projects. I have the bad habit of BORROWING fabric meant for one quilt for other projects then I run short for the original project. I always think to my self, " Well you bought extra for your stash."
good luck with your project

Good morning ladies, Well the quilt show is done!!!!!!
I am happy to say I finnished my son's quilt in time, I even bound it. Well, I did spend quite a bit at the vendors booths
8) You know some of those quilt kits are habit forming.
ops: Well, I will be in the hospital for a few days this week, so there will be no sewing for a while. But maybe when I get back, I can feel good about all your sewing minutes and smile
Keep up the stitches. Debbie

I finally got a chance to sew yesterday!!! I have now completed two paper peiced log cabin blocks for Aunt Mary's quilt, with a healthy start on ten more (four strips applied each). I started out to assembly line peice but I just had to see a few completed blocks 8) The quilt will take 20 blocks in all, so I am very pleased with this progress. I also have picked out a pattern for the applique I am going to put on the borders. Hopefully today I will have time to continue as well as to cut squares to get my dd started making the yo-yo flowers for the borders since that will be her contribution to the quilt. She loves making yo-yos

So far today, I basted a quilt using Sharon Schamber's method with the two boards. It took me less than 1 1/2 hours to pin baste a twin size quilt, sitting comfortably at a table, no aching back, neck, or knees. I also got a bit more free-motion quilting done on that child's quilt.

I am so jealous of all you ladies getting all this sewing done. My machines are still broke and I have ironed everything and cut all my fabric for projects that I have going on. Now I am working on Trying to get better at applique. I really suck at applique. Sorry I would phrase that differently but that is the only way to phase it.
