I have been using my left foot for sewing since I broke my right leg on January 23. I still am not allowed to walk on my right leg. Being able to sew with my left leg makes the entire experience a little more tolerable.
Keep us posted on what the ortho says. I sure didn't like what he had to say and do to me. Hang in there, this too will pass.

Kimber I work for United Airlines. I'm now after many years back on the reservation phone lines. But for many years I was a trainer and in between a supe on the phones. I called my supe job 1-800-Biach-at-me! :P I'm so much happier now working directly with our high yield customers and not handling someone else's irate. So sometimes when it's slow I can read my quilt mags or hand stitch.

Imagine the cool designs you can make up when you're ON your pills!!!
I finally got my appointment with the ortho - apparently they don't think its that big of a deal - either that or they figure it can't get any worse  Appt is next Thursday, so I get to have fun with my splint for another week. Its starting to stink a bit, so we'll have to make a stop at CVS.
Then off to knitting tonight - I'm not a big knitter, so I'm toying with taking some hand quilting with me - though I don't hand quilt much either! Maybe I'll just gab & drink with the gals
Kathy - get your side bar out and check it out! Let us know what its for :-)

I've been on a knitting craze lately. Started with someone in our quilting group wanted to learn to knit about 4-5 months ago. So I said, sure, I'll teach you. So I got all my knitting 'stuff' out and in the meantime my daughter sent me the web site for knitting helmet liners for the soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, so I bought some 100% wool for those and knitted up 3 of them during Christmas traveling. Then I made a really great scarf for myself.............then I hit a yarn sale at a great yarn shop.............now I'm knitting a sweater with it for myself. In the meantime, the lady STILL has not made it to a quilt meeting!
During all of this, I'm doing the BOM with Sue Garmen and tearing my hair out trying to figure out how to do all I WANT to do!
Life IS difficult! :?

I always thought it was for running the machine because I had one years ago that ran my machine. (I had forgotten what it was for) so I was abit confused!LOL
Glad you figured out what your bar was for!
Originally posted by KatzzzI found out something about my janome 9500 embroidery machine too that I had forgot about, it has a "foot pedal too" to use for quilting. I never quilted anything but baby blankets on it and I used the automatic, the machine runs on different speads. I bought a long arm because the neck wasn't big enough for me to quilt on, I make mostly king size quilts. Plus the pins scratch up the machine. I had forgot about these two things until it was mentioned.
Originally posted by KatzzzI knitt too but I only make wash cloths 100% cotton, I can make one aday. I've not knitted much lately, usually more in the summer months while watching tv.
Originally posted by KatzzzLOL, I can only imagine what design I would come up with on meds!!! "I would probally have a better eye for color"
I like alittle coconutt rum, orange juice, pinapple juice every now and again!

That lady needs to get to a quilt meeting!!! That helmet liner sounds very cool. I've done a few scarves and bags, but never a sweater. I tend to go for smaller projects that I can get done in a couple sittings.

Knitting group was fun last night. I knew 3 of the ladies, so I gained 2 new friends. That's always fun!
I'm making a felted cell phone bag. I'm done with the bag and just have the handle to finish. Shouldn't take too long. It'll take me longer to get back to it than to actually finish it

I know what you all mean about knitting. I love to knit too and have taught a few classes on it. Knitting is so hot right now that if someone hears you can knit, they want a class. Also got everyone at work back in Virginia going too. Taught the girl next to me and then everyone wanted a class, so did a few there as well. But I don't knit much because quilting is my main love.
Shoot, I meant to say to you Lynn, have you seen the felted bowls with knitting? I saw some the other day on American Quilts Creatively. I'd like to try that on purpose some day! (I have felted by accident lol)

I haven't seen the felted bowls - those sound cool! I've made a felted bag before that I just did *not* like how the design came out. We'll see if I like the cell phone case

Kathy,
I do have a frame and love it. I have the GMQ Pro with a Juki 98q on it (~9" clearance). I just got my stitch regulator and what a difference that has made!!! I don't have the patience to move around bed quilts on my stationary machine. More power to you! I've made a couple of dozen quilts on in the almost 2 years I've had it. I go through spurts where all I'm doing is quilting, then I'll let the dust collect and I get into piecing
I have an old machine at my mom's - one of these days I'll have space to bring it home with me. Its from my grandma (or great grandma, not sure) and my great uncle re-finished the cabinet. Not sure what kind of machine it is, but it apparently runs nicely. Its amazing how long these machines last!

I decided to pull out some of my smaller quilting kits and get some projects sliced up. I'm working remotely (ie on calls and answering emails) so I figured I needed something else to do
You'll never guess what kit I found...
Ricky's Harmonic Convergence! I picked it up at one of our Quilt Days a while back and apparently spaced out that I got it. Its weird though since the pattern calls for either one fabric cut into 4 pieces or 4 different fabrics. I could even see using 2 different fabrics... the kit came with 3 :?: Go figure! I decided to cut 2 blocks out of one and 1 block out of each of the other two. We'll see how it all turns out. It looks like a really fun method!
