omigosh! I have a "roswell" cupboard full of ufo's. I "try" to at least work on one before starting something new. but I have sooo many "want to makes".
I've just finished making samples of 2 mystery quilt projects for my guild. they are a mystery, so I can't tell you what they are (yet).
I went on a shopping excursion w/16 pals. the new fabric is fanned out on the table and my rotary cutter is mewling for a taste.
I'm on pins and needles waiting for the reply from AQS to see if my first entry will be accepted to the Paducah quilt show. altho, I think just filling out the entry form made me more nervous!

I would do something with fabric crayons or markers to start out with. Then they can draw their block.Originally posted by RickyTimsI'm starting a new topic for Gretchen's Quilt Project for Pre-schoolers. I'm also starting one for ideas about good ways to approach projects for elementary school age kids. Have at it gang! - Ricky
I am finishing up a King size Double Irish Chain. One more border then on to the quilting. I will also be getting a group of friends together and we are gonna spend the day on Superbowl Suday at my LQS sewing up a mystery quilt.

Dawn-Marie, I just finished a small project with my 7yr old granddaughter. They love to draw and so I gave her a plan block and she used her crayons to draw a valentine for her teacher. She cut scrappy pieces out of fabric and I turned them into a crazy quilt block for the front of the card, and we emelished it with beads and, a heart and flower.
Keep the projects small and simple for the younger ones.

I'm just finishing a spool scrappy quilt in which each 7 inch block contains 64 pieces - it's all hand pieced and quilted. It's the leftovers from my first grandchild's quilt and will be for #2 if and when it arrives. If it doesn't, someone else will get a surprise!
I'd post a picture but haven't figured out how to do it on this forum. Have done it on others, but this one still mystifies me. :?: :?: :?: :?:

I got all the paper templates printed and ready to go for the 2007 Truck Convoy quilt. I'm not going to count the pieces, as I might get discouraged.[/img]
Then the phone rang and I am goig to be a GREAT AUNTIE again  , so watch out stash, herre I come! It's another baby quilt in the think tank  . I'm thinking of using the turning twenty pattern since they didn't give me much notice and it sews up so quickly. The shower is the first Sunday in March!!

I'm getting ready to start (again) on my square dance quilt. from a book by martha thompson. you make a basic trip around the world, then cut it into squares at the seam intersections, give them a little twist, and voila! a beautiful pinwheel design. it's a little tedious tho, you have to work in sections w/out too much rearranging.

Why not put fusible web on the squares and half squares and let the kids assemble them into a design on muslin or offwhite cotton and have chaperones or your staff help them iron them on. That way they could go home with an actual piece of cloth. Also using crayolas to draw their own designs would get them even more involved. Our grandaughter started sewing sitting on my lap when she was five and now she has advanced to making some of her own clothes with her Mom and to making pillows and quilts with me. She is now 8.

Hi Everyone!
My BIG project right now is my first quilt, a king sized French braid. (what was I thinking???) :?
I'm also doing working on a small lap quilt for the friend that bought me a sewing machine for Christmas (and started all this craziness!), some kalidascope blocks, a McKenna Ryan pattern of a loon, a rag fur jacket (from Ami Simms pattern), a pillow cover, and I'm working on designing some landscape quilts of Great Lakes lighthouses(my passion).
Of course, if you would ask my DH, he's tell you my biggest project is buying fabric.
No one told me this quilting thing was so addictive...

Weeellll, lets see. I am working on a queen sized blazing star surrounded by a double border of smaller stars, I just started my first DWR using up the mountain of scraps I have been saving - that one will be wall sized, and have a SLEW of UFO's to work on. Guess I had better get buisy, lol

oh my gosh I'm not sure the forum is big enough for my list so I will try to condense it into categories. ( guess what I am a little hyper active and a whole lot distractible so bear with me) I am finishing the third in my teacup series - this one is mine so often gets put back until later. a bed quilt for the granddaughter incorporating chantelles, convergences and reversible quilting--( now how about that for a seminar topic) I also working on a quilt for our motor home which is oddly shaped to accomodaate the fact that the bed stands are attached to the head of the bed. I also have about firve wall hangings in various stages of construction --experiments for used for designing future products. In addition to quilting I do bead applique brazilian embroidery tatting and many types of greeting cards I teach the crafts in our park and work two mornings a week at a flea market any extra time goes to bread baking and laundry. Needless to say we do not always have clean clothes sometimes but oh well Lets see then I participate on this website and once in a while I sleep BUT BOY DO I HAVE FUN AND ISN'T THAT WHAT RETIRE FOR mULTITASKING IS MY MIDDLE NAME aNN

I, too have a list as long as my arm of what I'm working on. For my biggest project, I'm attempting a rhapsody quilt for my son. I have all the templates cut and all the applique drawn out and now I'm auditioning fabric. I'm also working on a couple of easy piecing projects and two of my friends and I are trying "collaborative quilting" where we each make lots of "parts" and then we will get together and combine them in a quilt. I'm anxious to see how that works. Next month I'll get 18 assorted blocks from bee members (we each made 18 blocks to share) made with autumn fabrics, and then we each have to have them assembled in a quilt by our retreat in October. A nice challenge! Busy, busy!
