The problem for me is that this site is not user-friendly these days. Too many clicks and menus to get to where I want to go. I was thinking that we could consider to set set up a private closed facebook group for some of us who are doing the mini challenge. Any thought? From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

I like the closed FB group idea too. Or at least a separate thread than this one to chat about it. It doesn't seem like the IMQE event page is the place for chat really. Do we have to have Wendy (doing the matches) admin the FB page or just those of us from this thread would be on it?Jules~

Although I don't feel I have time to participate in the international thing, it makes me kind of sad to see people starting to open private facebook pages for TQS related things. I have felt for a while that the forum was losing participants. I am admittedly a lurker and jump in and out and read the chatting, which is fun, and often beneficial. Still, I am a TQS member and love to see what everyone is doing. I just don't have the extra time for some of the fun things, or they don't fit my quilting style. I love TQS. I'm a charter member. I miss the original site with the blogs and somehow the forum was different. I do find the way the forum has moved into only a few very very long topics, like the virtual retreats, makes it hard to know what is going on, because by page 10 or 15, I've lost the whole thread. But it's still fun. I think some of the things that have been lost here are due to site management and site revamps that never quite worked right, but the people are still wonderful and the quilts are still wonderful. I don't know why the forum has gotten so difficult to follow unless you are on every day.
By the way, anyone can start a topic, as long as it is quilting related, but people should pay attention to the categories to see if they can fit it in somewhere.
Just my two cents worth.

Agree to both. So I'll start a thread here. I'll just look back at where someone suggested to put it. It's lovely to be a lurker and see what's going on and that wouldn't happen on facebook but I like the facebook one because our friends who won't post on here because they hate the new site will chat.See you in a bit.
Lorchen made me an admin on the facebook page  so let me know who you are on facebook and I'll add you or you or you :cheer: I'll post a link to the new page here as well.chat chat chat keep the forum alive

Betty, I became very 'inactive' in the forum when the site was re-vamped some years ago. It just takes too long when you lead an active life.
You message turned up ias a notification in my email account and I could read it. I should than be able to respond easily, but I have to click on the site link, then put in me name and password. Rather then being taken straight to your message, I am 'forced' to the daily blog, and then have to go to the forum. Once I get there, I have to find the right topic, then the thread and your message. It's just not 'user-friendly'. So I may get around to go to the TQS website once a week or less these days, and rarely participate, because by the time I read about something in the forum it's old news.
About this challenge: with several hundred people involved it really needs it's own topic area, not just a thread, so that different subjects can have their own thread and are relatively easy to find.
A facebook group will be useful for some of us for very fast communication 'on the hoof', no matter where you are and how busy your day is.
Both ways of communication have their place, in my opinion.
And now I better get some breakfast. From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

True it can be frustrating Lorchen, but if you log on first and then go back to the emails, and usually there are a bunch, the link takes you directly to the comment. Also, if I'm just "lurking" I start with the Quilter Community page where there are links to the comments so you don't have to wade through. It makes it much less of a byzantine path to get here, or wherever. Still, the forum needs work and I think they should just tell us frankly that they aren't able to bring back the blogs. Cheers.

And, it's titled "Getting Started." A little odd......but if you click on "Recent Topics" we will probably always see it at the top of the page since there will most likely be a lot of activity there. If we post there, we will also receive emails of all of the other posts, as long as we have not clicked any other buttons. I know some people don't want all of those emails to show up, so they click a button (can't remember which one) that will exempt them.
And, Marilyn, I got your PM.

Whoa! You all have been busy!
Lorchen, I use a link to the "recent topics" as my TQS sign in page. https://thequiltshow.com/forum/recent I suspect you can stay logged in if you want. I just click on my link to the "recent topics" and viola! I am at recent topics on the forum. I then click on whichever recent topic I want to read about. They have a little number beside each topic name to show if and how many posts have been made since I last logged in. Sometimes I never actually get to the main page of TQS 'cause I'm so busy chatting with you all. Just a help, I hope.
I'd like to be on your fb secret page if possible. I use my email address [email protected] or just genevacarroll
My partner and I have been chatting and I'm really looking forward to doing this exchange. I will let her know about the new forum page and the fb page if she is interested.
I did finish the top of the baby quilt I've been working on. I'll get a picture when I quilt it.
take care, genevaGeneva
