Geneva, your quilts are beautiful, you are so delightful to hang out with on the Forum, it will be the same at the quilt show. Have fun, you deserve the recognition! I bet you will have a lot of people asking questions about your techniques on the displayed quilts. :cheer:Originally posted by "genevacarroll" post=140407... Today is set up at the Quilt show. Hugs to you all! geneva

no cross eyes were needed in the making of this row -I just had fun with my scrappy home made jelly roll (any piece of 2.5" that is too short to make a 2.5" square sewn together as a leader/ender project), 45 degree diamonds, and a constant. What I have been doing with my rows though is trying to use one fabric for more than one person so that you all have cross connections in another subtle way.Originally posted by "twiglet" post=140419We're still here though!
Nice row Rosemary, it must have sent you crosseyed making that.
Pleased my rows are landing safely and quickly. :cheer:

Here is a quilt I made fast in January. I took the first 2 weeks off from my quilting business and pieced and quilted for me. Actually, I sent this to a friend. She & her family are mis-son-ari-es in Honduras. (I spaced that in case it is a problem to use that word here.) I pack a few boxes for gifts for the local pastors and kids they serve and sometimes have sent quilts I've made. The houses do get in the 50's & rainy sometimes and most don't have any means of heat. So yes, they do need quilts. This year I made this in colors she is using in her new bedroom and marked it personal for her. The container just arrived so I hope to hear soon that she has her quilt. The label is special to her, with her initial, and I also quilted To "her" Love, "me" in one of the inner borders. All the fabrics, front & backing, came from my stash. The time was love!
I made the pyramids (ala Gyleen's polygon ruler) and then ended up with so many leftover, I had a long strip for the back! This is for her queen bed. I know the pyramids got chopped off in some corners. I had it all planned and had to put all the floater strips on first. But I was totally wrong. I don't think she'll send it back because of this! And I learned to not put in piping on a "fast" quilt or where you have pyramids! It looks like I cut all the tips off but they are just hiding under the piping!
I had just randomly/slightly planned the backing piecing. Just put on the initial and wrote the label where it fit at the bottom. When the quilting was finished and I turned over the quilt, all the label was perfectly in an area with light thread quilting, not the detail quilting I had done in burgundy! I felt a large miracle ta-da moment! #needcurtseyemoticon :P
I'm slow to edit and post photos. Since then I've mostly been working for customers. I did a small banner and maybe I'll get that posted another day soon.

Wow, two packages on their way to me! Thanks, ladies!!
I am so far behind again....Feb & March have both yet to be done. I think I did send January...need to check my list and make sure. Yikes! Time for some catch-up sewing this weekend!!
Loving all the eye-candy in this thread...some gorgeous quilts and rows!! I'm working on a 2nd customer quilt for the same lady as before; a strip pieced Trip Around the World, then it will get borders to be bed sized. She hasn't yet unpacked the other one (her house is being renovated, so it's waiting on that...) so I still don't know if it fits properly or not (the last one shrank more than anticipated when washed). This one is being made overly large to accommodate, which I should have done on the first one.
I'll come in with photos this afternoon to show the row Marilyn sent me and any others that arrive by then, and some of what I'm working on. Happy Friday, all!Jules~

I've been asked to address the loss of our Row Robin thread. I'm as frustrated as the rest of you. I have no idea why it happened, or how to fix it. So,,, I am officially asking everyone to use our virtual retreat thread to post about the Row Robin exchange. It would be really nice if all involved could get their rows and/or fabrics received together and take a photo or two, please. Thanks for continuing on with all of this, as I have become the 'on the shore but cheering' person. I'm glad a got some fabric off to everyone at the onset, as my life turned into a bit of a whirlwind of events and undertakings. One of which has been becoming a Second VicePresident, in charge of programs for the Palmetto Fiber Arts Guild. Little did I know that nothing had been planned for 2016, and programs not only meant presentations at monthly meetings, but workshops, classes, etc etc!! There were no informational forms to follow, or anything written to go by, oh, and did I mention, no designated budget?? I guess I did ok, I was unanimously elected again! But the, no one else was willing to take it over. So, the first few months of this year have been going a lot better, as I believe in planning a year in advance for this type of thing! I stepped out on a limb recently, wrote up a contract, and booked a teacher to come in for a 3-day workshop for this coming October! I need 12 to break even, and I have 7 registered in less than a month! Now it's on to advertising it to our community.
So, yes I've been quiet on here, and on my blog! But I've been up to a lot of good things.
Hope everyone is enjoying some time in their sewing rooms.
Love to all of you, Luann
