I will be 76 at the end of June...exactly half way through the year.
My friend Audrey(84) has been quilting for about 20 years and she started me on this obsession, so I have her to thank for giving a me a hobby that I love otherwise I would probably be stuck in front of the TV watching rubbish.

Oh, Cindy, what a wonderful idea! I'm 65 and am going to follow your lead - can't wait to see the expressions on people's faces!!

Norma and Beverly, I like your thinking and I plan to join you! I'll be 65 in a few months, I'm semi-retired from work, and happily quilting. A friend in one of my local quilting groups said that she read something about quilters being among the healthiest and longest-living groups—probably because we all spend a lot of time problem-solving, which definitely exercises our brains. And wrestling quilts through domestic sewing machines is exercise!

Anne, you're only a couple of weeks older than I am. I'll have to live to 150 to use up all the fabric I have, plus finish the UFO's? We have two children, both in their 50's, plus 6 grands ranging from 14 to 27. Will quilt 'til I wilt, so to speak.

Hi Robin, Welcome to TQS. We love new members. Good luck with your Quilting in 2015. Have a good New Year.
I won't qualify as the oldest member. So far your friend has that honor, Anne. But I am getting up there so to speak. Not getting any younger. I just celebrated my 69th birthday 4 days before Christmas. I am thinking about celebrating 70 years by going to Denver for the taping of some TQS shows next Fall. Sure would love to meet many of my TQS friends there. Hmm... Is that a resolution? We'll see.

I'm not the oldest member at only 63, but hope to still be making quilts at 80.

My first quilt of the year is now pieced after making an extra block. I removed fabric 15 and added back fabric 1. I'm 95% pleased with it I think. Hoping the quilting will go smoothly since I haven't used my big machine since August. As much as I'd like to do custom quilting, it will probably be an edge-to-edge digital design, maybe in gold thread.

My goal is to do 4 more quilts this year for family, 2 of them for sure. And I have a WIP from 2004 that I hope to complete. I worked on it a little last year so it's no longer a UFO. The rest of my to do list is work related and there are plenty of those to keep me busy for a long time.

Beautiful I can't take it in that you've pieced it already. All I've done in that time is sew tails on 3 mice!

I'm 62 1/4 and catching Anne up. Only 2 more days at work and I shall be giving you some competition

Gorgeous and very productive, Annis! I'll play the age game...with a hat tip to Cindy, I'm 85. Gosh, that does feel good! Actually, I turned 65 just after Christmas and will have to double that age to use up my stash and finish everything I've started. This year I'd like to complete a quilt I started for my DGD 3 years ago, the 2014 BOM, and Alex's Holiday Lights quilt. I have the instructions for Bonnie Hunter's Grand Illusions mystery quilt printed and I'd like to do that. I am so grateful that I didn't see her Celtic Solstice mystery until too late to get the pattern or I would be doing that too. Oh, and I am planning on doing the 2015 BOM, as well. I hope to keep as current as possible with that one! Whew! For me, that's a big list. Not enough hours in the day, not nearly enough...

Wow, Annis, you are fast! I need some of your speed genes! And, Charae, I want to Alex's Holiday Lights quilt too - I forgot and left it off my list. Wendy, you are going to LOVE retirement - think of all the quilting possibilities!

Annis - is that picture the result of the piles of fabrics you showed us, like yesterday or the day before. Gal, you're f-a-s-t. Gorgeous, I wanna make one of those too...but I won't put it on my NY list - maybe next year.

                            I had better hurry up.

                            I just turned 80. ( Day before Lotti's BD. )

Yes, I started cutting the pieces Wed., and today is Sat. That's almost 3 days, should have done it in 2 days, but family was around part of the time and I took some breaks to do other things, plus I had to rearrange 3 blocks after it was completed so did some unsewing. I have it loaded now ready to quilt. Just have to choose a pattern. It measure 54" x 68" with 12" blocks. Taking a break for now.
