I finally got started piecing last week. Here are the square in square blocks. I am using the kit that I purchased from Alex. I also completed the baskets except for stitching the handles down, the pineapple and kaleidoscope blocks.

Well I finished the arc pattern, it went fast once I selected my fabrics. It was a challenge but it keeps me motivated.

great photo. I'm also planning to use light polka dots for background of geese. Good choice!

So glad to have this extra week to get caught up. Now on to the Flying Geese!

I love your New York Beauty blocks!

A rainy week in Malvern, England, so have managed to catch up with my blocks. Lovely to see other people's lovely blocks.

I used toned down colors for Kaleidoscope blocks, so that eyes can rest right next to the busy pineapple blocks. Tried to create a color wheel for my NYB points. Blue was the most difficult ones despite of so many scraps I own (My friends donate me, too.)
I like Alex's sampler with many batiks very much. What I try to achieve is recreating the "feel" without using many batiks.

I’ve done New York Beauty blocks before so I sailed through them. I found that by putting dark sashing, or filler strips I could integrate my orange kaleidoscope blocks that I found too dark before. I also added a house block, to show that this is my covid quilt. I hadn’t made one yet.
                        On to the flying geese!

I tried about 10 layouts before settling on this one, with dark filler strips in between some of the blocks.

The orangy-yellow border will probably be thinner than this, but I had this 2.5” one already in my scraps so wanted to see if it would work as a color, and the length was just right too! It is a good day!
