Really like the one with the black. It adds much more depth.

Using the Mackinac Island fabric bundle for the Sequoia Sampler was the perfect opportunity to create my very own Quilt of Valor. It's done and ready to be quilted.

Barbara, I have a question and I hope you can help. Are the finished blocks supposed to measure at 6 inches or 6.5 inches? I looked in the book and nothing was said about having the 1/4 inch seam allowance included in the finished block. I've been using solids from my stash while I await some beautiful primary colored fabrics that I ordered. Just trying to get my ducks in a row before I get seriously involved here. Thanks for your guidance (and patience).

NanaSuz, 6” finished blocks will be 6.5” when made. They become 6” when sewn into the quilt.

Check your units as you go, being sure each is the correct size before doing the next step.

Going a bit rogue with my block choices. Some of these are pretty ugly. Hope they will work in by the end....

Yippee, got my Single Wedding Ring block to measure 6-1/2 inches by using the Bonnie Hunter method of cutting the center square 1-7/8" of the corner square within a square. Everything measured perfectly. I am so excited. I have attached by first 5 blocks. Off to make a couple more masks for our university's bulldog statue.
