    Global Notifications???

When I was looking in my Profile, there was a little 3 next to the Global Notifications icon (had to see what it was on my iPad, as it is just a little box with numbers/letters in it on my desktop). But when I clicked on it, (either here or on iPad) all I got was a popup window, with nothing in it. What is Global Notifications and what is it supposed to do?? As the name implies, if it is supposed to notify us of something, is there a way we can be notified with out having to go to our profile page? I don't usually go to my profile page unless I want to change something, but I don't see any "Global Notification" icon anywhere else. To me, this seems like it won't notify me of anything if I don't go to my profile page.

Diane, That has been a dead end button from the start, and quite honestly I think that it can safely be ignored, it doesn't seem to bring anything to the party  , with the exception of causing us to say 'woss it for? ' I've decided to ignore it anyway :P .

The global notifications appears to me to be a number that indicates new posts to the whole site. This may be tailored to our own usage, but I'm not sure. That number reflects new written posts that can be seen on the TQS Community wall. The number of posts can be individualized in our Profile settings. I have mine at 80, so I can scan all of the posts from there, and respond in the Forum was desired.

Hey Sue, you really have been digging into the profile settings and stuff. Thanks for letting us know about what you have found. I admit that I haven't really gone furtle-ing around there much myself.

I cannot hold my tongue any longer. It amazes me that there are so many questions about what things on this new site means. Lots of the confusion could have been avoided if only there had been a glossary, legend or the like to describe all of these new things. Then posts are going back and forth on the forum of folks playing guessing games about what things mean just continue to add to the confusion, as if all of the bugs needing to be corrected weren't enough. I tell you that I'm so frustrated with it all that I'm seriously debating whether or not to renew my charter membership. It's been mostly an enjoyable ride until this recent website overhaul. I am not adverse to change. However, this rollout has been challenged, to say the least, and navigating the new site is very user unfriendly. I just hope TQS can rectify these problems before the year ends.

Amen, sister. I have given up for now. Can't find things and pleas for help have gone unanswered. What a mess. I don't want another web site that's trying to be like facebook. I want something usable, not "intuitive" - whatever that means.

Nancy, I agree with you too. I just started using the forum not long before this conversion started. What a let down it has been. I hardly ever comment and now I hardly ever read the posts. It looks to me like they could have had Bob teach someone the old system so that if Bob retired someone else would be ready to take over. If it ain't broke don't fix it! :

I understand that due to changes in technology, a change would have needed to be made anyway. However, I think a user manual is in order, because this new website is not nearly as intuitive as it could be.

Unfortunately now, it's also too cumbersome and time consuming to navigate. I'm not a Facebook user, because I've been a TQS user since the beginning. Until recently, I spent way too much time on this site and surfing the internet such that I didn't need one more thing to eat up my time.
