"Confuselled" - So I thought I'll ask :)
Can somebody, please, explain those stars next to our names in the profile and other places. I have been a member from the start and those little stars go up to one with a number '3' on it. I have seen other members who have stars with numbers '6', or '8', or '9'. Why? I'm just curious what the system is that TQS is using. From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

I'm not sure about the numbered stars, but the first one, with the "C" in the middle means that you are a CHARTER MEMBER, and got on board at the beginning of this grand adventure.
The next one says "Star Member" when you hover your mouse over it. I think that just means that you are paid up for this year???
The next 3 on your profile show that you paid for Series 1, 2 & 3 when you hover your mouse over it.
I'm not sure what the other numbers designate, but assume it's a series?

Lorchen, I have been wondering the same thing. The other day I notice that I have a star with a 7 in it. I also noticed that Rita has a bunch of stars by her name with not exactly consecutive numbers. Rita, What did you do to get all those lovely stars by your name. Perhaps they gave her extra stars to brighten those late night quilting sessions. She and I both became star members in March of 2011. I paid up my membership for next year during IQF Houston because they were offering a gift certificate to download a series and I downloaded series 7. I think my star is for series 7. I am gradually purchasing other past series but I am getting them on DVD's and those numbers do not appear in stars by my name. I am not sure the puzzle is entirely solved. But it may have something to do with the series you have purchased online. I also have access to series 8 and 9 but those numbers do not appear by my name. Lois

I am a relative newcomer to TQS but I recently purchased some of the past series to view online. Everytime I did so, the number of the series I purchased did pop up in a star in the order of the purchase. I know that is not consistent with your experience, Lois, so there must be some additional detail that I could not discern. But, I thought I'd pipe up anyway. Have a great weekend!

Renata, I think you are right the stars pop up if you buy a series to view online. When I purchased DVD Series the numbers did not pop up and I can't watch them online. Lorchen, I love the new word "confuselled"! I am sorry that you are confuselled and don't resculize (my daughter's word when she was 4 years old) what's going on with the stars. You know how star charts work? Well I have been a really good girl and that is why I have so many on my profile  Ah no, seriously though, the star without a number just means I am a paid-up star member, the stars with the numbers in them mean that I have bought those series online. Save the planet - buy online and get a star.

We are becoming less and less "confuseled" with each post. I never thought of it being nicer to the planet buying online. I opted for the DVD's because the local quilt friends that I do have don't have access to high speed internet so in order for me to share TQS with them I like having the DVD's. I use them as recruitment tools. I need a "nuts about quilting" friend. I am seeking a partner in crime, someone to help me fine trouble and to encourage me to buy too much work when I tour quilt shops (not so local). Actually, I don't need alot of help in that realm, but wouldn't it be so much more fun? Lois

Hi Lois -
I actually found that friend recently. She just started quilting last year and you wouldn't believe how much she is accomplishing! What an inspiration!! And she loves to accompany me to the local quilt shop and helped me plan a trip to the Long Beach show in July for my 50th birthday this year. She is just as excited about the trip as I am!! And, best of all, she encourages me when I spend way too much on fabric and thread and patterns and books and tools and everything! I've even gotten her into TQS! I hope that you find your local friend because, in combination with all of the wonderful TQS friends, it's a blessing beyond words!

OK, so what should I have? I got my first membership in the first few months (hence the star with the C). Since then I have paid for my membership every year, so I can view every series online, but my numbered stars stop at 3. I have also bought the DVDs of every series as they have become available. Mmmmhhhhh........
It doesn't bother me, but I'm curious and think the present 'star system' is definitely confusing (but then it doesn't take a lot to confuse me
).

Well, I have been around since the beginning and have bought each as a full year subscription and then I bought all the DVDs so I don't have a clue what the numbers mean because it says I just have three. I guess as long as I get to see the shows--it really doesn't matter just makes you say "hmmmm".From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

A couple of weeks ago I purchased my next year even though the current year would not expire for a couple of months. There was a deal, so I took it. It might not have been there went the real time came to renew.
After a couple of days I revisited Ritzy's blog where she shows her awesome BOM, and saw that I had 6 stars! One more than all 39 people who commented on that blog. Even more than Margo! Boy, did I feel special. I do not understand the stars either, but for the moment I will bask, knowing I must have been even better than Rita!
If DH knew I got so excited over stars, he'd probably just have given me a star for my birthday, huh? Or for Valentine's Day, or Mother's day............you get the picture!
