Ability to make our quilt gallery public would be great!
I sent the link to my quilt qallery to my parents, relatives and friends as I wanted them to see and read about my quilts. Especially the one I made for my Dad. Anyway nobody can see the profiles/quilts unless they are a member. My parents don't like to join anything online due virus/spam fears. It would be great if we could choose to set our individual profiles/quilts public or private.
Has anyone else ran across this issue? What's your opinion?
Thanks so much!

I wanted my family to be able to see my work as well -- both finished quilts and works in progress. So, what I did, was just start a blog that they can check. That way, I can post more pictures, more verbage, etc. Mine is at http://willquiltforchocolate.blogspot.com
Take care,

The key word in the poll is set. When I first read this I also thought it didn't make sense. But while it could be worded better, I read it again and believe it is asking not whether we should choose either option "public" or option "member only", but the question is asking whether we as members should be able to set that option ourselves for our own profile.

I'd rather keep my profile private for use by this group. When I want to post something to invite family or other non-members to see, I put it in a Yahoo photo gallery - it's free, you can invite in anyone you want, or you can keep it private. But, I feel better with the general info in the profile at least requiring membership to be viewed - that's about as public as I want to be. I'm probably too distrustful, but it just seems a better idea to me to be a little bit careful.

I prefer that certain parts of TQS can only be seen by paying members. Personally I like a little privacy.
There are so many websites today where you can share with the whole world what you are doing (facebook, twitter, webshots, etc.). Besides starting your own blog and set it up so that anybody can look at it, you could consider starting a Yahoo group for your friends and family. This can be set to be either private or public, and you can share pictures, links, files, messages, and more. It's a very good communication tool. Try it.From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood
