I love TQS. I don't own a Bernina, I do use Superior threads. I own a Gammill long arm quilt machine. I try very hard to remain open to all things sewing, quilting , fabric, fiber and textile related. You never know when you might learn something new. But first you have to be open and be objective. I will get off the soap box.

Ladies, I agree with all of you. I love to be able to watch the shows whenever & however often I want. I too own the DVDs for future reference. The educational videos & techiques that I have picked up have encouraged me to try things & have sparked new ideas.
The forum is one of my favourite sections-so many interesting sections & new friends with valuable quilting expertize to share.
My current favourite warm up activity-the puzzles. I sure hope that we get more of them next year!

Bunny, you can make up puzzles with your own (quilt?) photos here:

When I signed up there were 51,364 members.
Of the 300 most recent members 100 of them were paying members. It could be reasoned that approximately 1/3 of the 51,000+ members are "star members".
The cheapest rate per month is $3.58.
Therefore I estimate that memberships alone net this site over 60k per month (that's approximately $720,000 per year).
Of course there are the web-evised ads as well as the banner ads all over this site, DVDs and CDs....
It's easy to see how this site could be generating well over a million dollars in revenue per year.
Just thinking out loud...

Sorry unrelated to your posting, but your quilt "Conversations #1- Circles & Lines" is cool looking. I've never heard of that technique you mentioned in your description before, but it really has 'grab appeal.'.

Well, I don't mind how the TQS finances work, as long as everything is legal.
For me as a paying member it's important that I'm happy with what is offered. So far I have been very, very happy. I don't even have the time to explore everything that TQS is making available.
I've just got myself a single malt and I'm hot-footing it over to the shows to watch the latest......... whooooooosh..............

Back from watching the latest show. And I'm still delighted with TQS! As a "Paper-Piecing Virgin" this show is really encouraging and makes me want to live for another 200 years so that I can make all the quilts that are whirling around in my head.

I must confess, from time to time I ponder how much money is generated by membership on TQS. I think it's a good deal, and I hope the TQS guys are making ends meet & more...
but how in the world does anyone on the outside calculate many paying members there are and how many "others"? Were non-paying users added in to the 50,000 landmark?

I love TQS and have been a paying member since before there were even shows available. I went on faith knowing Alex when she was on TV. I must admit to not really knowing Ricky at the time, but he has really opened my eyes on great techiques and also loosened me up as a quilter. I love both their styles and consider them like salt and pepper -- good by itself but great when put together.
And I also want to thank TQS to introducing me to some wonderful teachers from all over the world, whom I would have never known if TQS were not in existence.
As for how much money TQS might be making -- well I hope they are making barrel fulls, and I'm happy to contribute my small portion so that TQS grows to an even higher level than what we now enjoy.
