Congratulations to the whole TQS team on another brilliant show - great mix of teaching, tips, eye candy, and relaxing entertainment.
I don't scare easily, so I will make a slightly controversial comment: I absolutely loved the sound of Ricky's flute, its mellow tone, and the almost hypnotic quality of the melody. Thank you, Ricky!!
MMmmhhhh.... I guess I should play my Ricky CDs next time when I try to do some tricky appliqué. Maybe I'll be so relaxed then that it all just attaches itself perfectly.

I just watched the show too. Jaw dropping is the word! Liuxin is so cute and so knowledgeable and SO CAPABLE! I loved the tips she gave and have her books on my christmas wish list now. Thank you Ricky for the binding demo. I'm going to use it this weekend so it was very timely. Wish I had time to get Jackie Robinson's ruler but going to try to figure out what degree of angle she used. And as always I really appreciate when you treat us with your music Ricky. That song was so lovely.

Patti, the end of Jackie's ruler is 90 degrees! You can use the corner of any ruler with a 45 degree marked right to the corner. Line up the 45 degree line on the fold line and slide the ruler so that the edge of the ruler meets the last stitches holding the binding on, then mark your stitching line. Harder to explain than to do and the smaller scale of her ruler makes it lots easier to handle!Originally posted by PattiSureI just watched the show too. Jaw dropping is the word! I'm really glad that the time constraints of a "regular" show do not apply here. From Ricky's mitering technique to Liuxins' appliqué and quilting methods and seeing her quilts oh! such a full show. Now that I know how to use her needles I'm going to give her hand quilting method a try once again. I have her dvd (should have bought the book) and the plastic thimble and actually prefer this thimble for hand quilting. I will one day invest in one of her metal thimbles as it would be an awesome investment!
Teri
Even though I don't have the book I was able to follow along and was getting into the rhythm of hand quilting the way Liuxin does. Her lap hoop or a free standing frame would make the process a lot easier since the quilt wouldn't be right on me.Teri

Just seen this show, thanks to TQS free viewing this weekend.
It was BRILLIANT!
The tip about locking the thread onto the needle is just what I need when working with 5-6 yr-olds, even though we are using thicker (normal sized) threads. It is also tugging at the latent miniature-ist in me - although I am still managing to resist that lunacy (just)Teri

I have just watched this show again too. I had forgotten the bit about Chinese weaving to make the points more pointy and the circles more circular. What incredible workmanship. They are 'such stuff as dreams are made of'! Thanks TQS for reminding me and a Happy Mothers Day to those of you who celebrate it today. (Or is it tomorrow?)

Ok,- trying to keep it under control :lol:Originally posted by LorchenWrong, Rosemary! I have seen some of what you have made, and it's on a tiny scale and drop-dead gorgeous. So, there is nothing 'latent' about it!
Amend that I cannot afford to turn into a miniature-ist, I've got too much stash to use up (and besides when I make clothes they won't fit   )
