Show 306
I just got finished watching the new show. I love how Alex showed to make the star. I have tried a few blocks with flying geese units and they didn't work well. I have trouble with triangles. I will try her technigue. Kim was a very interesting quest. Amazing that she has only been quilting 4 years. Thanks for another great show! Sandi in FLTags: None

I loved the show. Kids need a creative outlet and a reason to feel good about their achievments.
I do have a question for Alex. What is the deciding factor as to white or red wine for star blocks? I have done some blocks that required a good shot of Maker's Mark after completion. Betty Ann in Sunny Florida.

So what would go with the raggedy reverse applique??? How about Bacardi 8) Ok, and then a Rhapsody would have to be a Flaming Dr. Pepper!!! (for those who don't know what that is you take a glass of beer and a shot of ammaretto, light the shot with a match, drop it in the beer and chug the whole thing, lol)Originally posted by PattiSureWell I'd say piecing would be white, paper piecing red and applique whiskey.

I just watched this show, and really identified with Alex's comments about her daughter. My daughter is also an English teacher (9th grade) and very talented in many fields, but she has sewn very little. She and her math teacher dad have spent several summers remodeling their almost 100-year-old country home, and she has learned a lot from him. One day when I was there, she asked me to help her make a simple gathered bathroom curtain from fabric she had purchased. When I asked for a dressmakers shears to straighten up the crooked cut ends, her response, following a long pause, was, "Ahhh - tin snips?" After I stopped laughing, she asked if I was disappointed in her because she's not "crafty.' I told her I was most certainly NOT disappointed, but very proud of the talents she has developed.

I know what you mean Mary....my daughter, Gabrielle, who is almost 19, does not sew at all....I introduced her to it and she went gladly to quilt camp when she was 8 and had a great time, but she did not want to make another one. She has enough talents to make up for it though, and I always tell her she has to have me a grand daughter someday to sew with.

Must say I was wondering which wine goes with which, for food I have thrown caution to the wind. Show 306 was good, in the past I worked with children and yeah this would be fun to teach. Maybe I could spend time in Jersey with nieces. My DD has not shown much interest in sewing but has started making hints. She'll be one of us hopefully soon.

My DD do sew, but dont do quilting at all. I do not mind at all because she is so HAPPY when I make something for her
I have just starten on a quilt for her 30th birthday (hmmm...when the heck did she become my age  )..its in March so I do have the time to finish it
Even though non of my kids are quilting I have greate memories from when they were little. They loved to puzzle with my blocks to create different patterns. And, I can see clearly that my creative spirit have had greate impact on their life!
