Since The Quilt Show has illuminated so many aspects of quilting for thousands of members around the world. I think you should come up with short segments that "Shine the Light" on a new quilting method, a special quilter, i.e., Lavella Casinelli, a special happening in the quilt world or some "quilty" noteworthy news and keep the lamp in La Veta. Not only will it symbolize the "light" of a NEW DAY, it will light the path of THE QUILT SHOW from its inception into the future.
I love the site and I really look forward to seeing the new set.

Much as I would liek to say that this lamp should come home with me and travel the USA in our mobile quilting home, I agree that it should stay in La Veta and become a new TQS icon "Light the Way" is a great idea. So I vote for it living in La Veta and being a TQS icon along with Ricky's hat, photoman, the thread guy etc.
Ann
p.s. Ricky, you look great in the Elmer Fudd hat. A whole new career- hat model. LOL

All good ideas posted here... But, they did say everything gets a new look, and it's a New Day! So, let's have a "treasure hunt"ng for the lamp (and other things from the set they want to have us find clues for) -- sign me up! Sounds like lots of fun, and it can be combined with education too - we hunt up answers in blogs, etc. I'd find a way to decorate to suit that lamp for sure! Ha!

How about putting together a Time Capsal that could be stationed outside of Ricky's shop. And after a determined number of years, it could be opened and a reunion of the guests that came these first two seasons could get together and reminisce. What a show that would be!!!!
Or am I too much of a sappy gal....

Having the lamp light a segment of the show is a great idea! Or, it could be used like a "Where's Waldo" kind of thing. You know, moved around the set and people would have to find it in different camera shots.
But..................if you want to send it somewhere, I'll send you my address

So many famous TV sets have been moved and/or recreated for the Smithsonian Institute museum. (Julia Childs kitchen, the Dick Van Dyke Show living room, etc). I think Alex's lamp, those purple couches and those "carnival tent" curtains should take their place next to other noteworthy show sets!!! (Maybe they could have a special installment at the Smithsonian entitled "Show Sets -What Were They Thinking?!?!" or "Lamps that make you go 'Hmmmm?'" or "Bringing The Circus Home"
Okay...I'll stop now. hee hee
