Is there going to be a Show/Segment on BSR?
During one of the episodes, Ricky remarked that TQS should (or would) do a segment on BSR. But I don't recall that being part of the series 3 content.
1. Is BSR going to be a series 3 segment?
2. If not, can Alex do a classroom?
I had some recent struggles with my BSR and from the discussions on the forum, it appears that others do also. Some have mentioned that they haven't even taken it out of the box. That's a pretty expensive dust collector.
IMHO I'd like some demonstrations, discussions about BSR1 vs BSR2, machine settings, foot control vs no foot control, securing, starting & stopping, free hand by deactivating the BSR mode without removing the BSR foot, some additional exercises to increase proficiency.
I'm sure others have topics to include.

Libbi-What a tremendous idea. I hope the powers that be pick up this ball and run with it. Hint..Hint.. I bought a 440 when they first came out and I have never been satisfied or confident in my use of the BSR.( main reason for the purchase) I've been to my dealer twice for further instruction but they aren't quilters so only give a very cursory demo. :? You could try and persuade Bernina to put videocast lessons about the use of this BSR on their website, or have a Q&A section, or even a chat forum.
I wonder how many members of the Quiltshow have this BSR. My guess would be that it's a very small minority due to the price of the machines and the BSR.
So, personally, I'd rather see segments about topics that can be relevant to the majority of Quiltshow members.

I purchased a 430, with the addition of a BSR a couple of weeks ago. I get 5 free classes at the dealer but don't know if BSR is included. I haven't tried it yet. I do a lot of free motion quilting and am comfortable with it, and sometimes wish I hadn't bought the BSR, but decided to "suck it up" and learn how to use it. The concept is wonderful, but not so easy to accomplish I am thinking. I'd love to go to a class just on BSR, but haven't found one.

Have you seen this web site (with the incredibly complicated URL--I hope it posts correctly). It has several short videos on the BSR made by Bernina. They are not all that detailed but give an overview on different aspects of the BSR: http://www.berninausa.com/browse.jsp...=1206122585980

I have a 435 with a BSR. I was disappointed in the ONE class I got at my dealer. It just wasn't enough time to learn. It tended to be a "sales pitch" for all the feet and other sewing notions. I really felt they abandoned me as soon as they got my money! The BSR 1 and BSR 2 are really confusing and I'm going to have to sit down and just figure it out. I was the only one in the class with the BSR and the teacher just briefly covered it. I've learned more from the TQS members!

I agree with everyone about the need for more indepth training using the BSR. Most of what I've learned has been trial and error, taking up a great deal of time.
I think a "Classroom" on the BSR would be a great service. Since Bernina is one of the sponsors of this website and Alex is a representative of the company, perhaps they could collaborate on a series of indepth training sessions. I get the impression that Alex has only recently added machine quilting to her many skills, so I'm sure she would be a wonderful teacher, since she knows firsthand the frustrations associated with mastering the BSR.
Of course, Alex's time isn't unlimited and putting together these classroom sessions takes a lot of time and effort. I would hope that Bernina might compensate her for creating the sessions that would benefit the Bernina reputation as much as it would benefit our quilting community.

I watched all the Bernina videos on its USA website but I still don't think they go beyond an ad for the device. I agree that Bernina as a site sponsor should produce some classroom sessions with Alex.
I realize that not everyone owns a Bernina or its BSR so maybe a classroom is a better option than TQS segment.

I realize TQS needs to offer what benefits the majority, and I agree. If I didn't have a BSR, I wouldn't be interested in it. It would be nice, though, if Bernina would offer us an indepth instructional CD or DVD for using the BSR. Maybe they're not sure how to use it! JUST KIDDING, BERNINA  Seriously, though, it's really sad that there's so much confusion about this little (expensive) foot!!! I'm gonna play around with it this week and maybe I can solve the mystery of making this foot work. I'll let you all know.....

I would not watch an episode about the BSR and would be mad if there was one. There are other machines besides the Bernina!!! I have 2 Vikings and I love them and am tired of everyone always talking about the sun rising and setting on their Bernina. A classroom would be fine, but not a whole episode. Not that many quilters spend over $2000 on their machines!!

I agree with you NancyAnn about so much talk always about the Bernina! I wouldn't own one because they are so expensive and they have you coming and going for sure since you have to buy this foot and then another and something else. And if you talk to the Janome people they will tell you that they make parts for the Berninas. Interesting huh? I love my Elna and Janome. (Janome makes Elna I found out).
So I am another one who would not watch an episode related to the BSR.
