I find I am not much into patterns... I usually change the pattern in some way as I work on it...
LadyRags - Good for you !! 8) It is fun to make a pattern just the way you like it. Before long you will be designing the whole block and/or quilt.
I am so new at quilting that I don't really know what I need or want TQS to show. I have enjoyed everything so far and have really learned a lot. Just keep it up and I will be happy. I am leaning towards more thread play (love Libby Lehman) and have gotten interested in machine applique because of TQS. I am more of an art quilter but like the basics and traditional stuff as well. I like new and inovative ideas.
Libby Lehman's book, 'Thread Play' is the first quilt book that I have read from front cover clear through to the back cover. Ricky Tim's Rhapsody Quilt book is the second one I have read cover to cover. I usually just read here and there in a quilt book and pick out the parts I want to learn more about.

I could only be considered a designer if I
1/ make a block or quilt not because I made a mistake but because I PLANNED IT THAT WAY ..... hee hee hee
2/ Came up with an idea all by my lonesome and not take an old block put it into new fabrics and call it designed by me.... I think this is what burns me the most about some of the new quilt patterns....
Some " designers " use old blocks... put them in a quilt and call it their design.... Those designers that make a new techique or come up with a new way of doing something are actually creating ... ie Ricky's Rhapsody (?sp?) quilting, caveman style, convergence are all to the best of my knowledge all new creations or designs. I guess this is one reason I like the show.

I agree with LadyRags. I put a lot of things- together - but I don't call them 'my' design unless I have put a lot of thought creating and drawing into them. Ricky has put a whole lot of thought, drawing and design into his quilts !! 8) And it is encouraging to see someone do these kind of design creations. That is one reason I like the Quilt Show, too.

This is a little bit different from other suggestions here, but this is what I would LOVE to see...
How about some indicator when we're watching the show of how much time is left in the episode? Often when I watch online videos, there's some sort of status bar at the bottom showing how much you've already watched and how much is remaining. Boy, that would be great to have on The Quilt Show!

I would like to see a show that features Alex and then another one that features Ricky as the guests. Lets see some more your guys creations and methods.
Another note.... sometimes I feel that the featured guest is rushed through things, and we don't really get to see a lot or learn a method all to well. I realize that the the guest is there to not only promote their books or whatnots. But isn't that also a part of being a paid subscription to the quilt show? I wonder if somethings were cut out or not done if the guest could be on longer to really demonstrate there methods, and explain more details.
it is a little frustrating when you see something being done that you would like to give a shot at, but can't cause the only way to do that is run out and purchase their book. Well what is the point of watching the show if you have to do that in order to try anything? I want to purchase the book if it is something that appeals to me and I want to do more with it, but I don't want to buy the book just to learn what the heck I am doing and then maybe not like it.
thank you very much, and please please consider what I have said. I am sure that there are others out there like myself that just don't dare say anything.
Heather

I have two ideas for future shows.
1. A quilt challenge - similar to the ones that used to be on Alex's, The Quilt Show.
2. A show or shows inspired by a section from Show 213 where Alex and Ricky chose fabrics. Make a quilt! Wouldn't it be great to see them (or other quilters) design an interesting quilt, buy the fabric and tell why certain fabrics work for the specific design. Decide how much fabric to buy. Make each type of block or a portion of the quilt. Show how to fix mistakes (like when blocks were measured and still don't line up when sewing together.) Chose backing, batting, labels. Quilting design, quilting it. Binding. The whole works.

Jan - your suggestion for a quilt challange might be fun bur for us members. Let Alex, Ricky, or Justin choose a fabric and then we have to pick x number of fabrics to go with it and design and make a small quilt. We could post pictures of the quilts and explain why we chose the fabric and design. I think it would be fun and very informative. Sandy

I love Heather's idea about Alex and/or Ricky being the guest for a show or two!! That would be out of this world!
I also love Sandy's about the challenge-kind of like the annual Hoffman one. Even I would participate!! And I don't do challenges :?

Hey gang!
I'm posting here just to remind you that we DO look at the forum and we really appreciate the suggestions. I do need to remind you that the we have a very long wish list, and limited resources to make them happen - not to mention the time - and we tackle one thing at a time. Web changes may happen sooner than show changes or suggestions.
Also, regarding show content. Please be aware that we started scheduling guests for Series Four months ago, and those shows will be shot in September and posting Jan-June 2009. The show suggestions really don't appear nearly as fast as you would like - but we're here for the long haul.
Finally, as much as we'd like to, we cannot meet every request. We will continue to work hard to bring you the best darn quilting website ever! Thanks for your suggestions.
