WHAT INFORMATION, FEATURES to the web page, the show WOULD HELP YOU AS A QUILTER MORE?
I guess I will start...
as I do not travel much for various reasons I would like to see a slide show of the guest speakers quilts as part of the web pages. I have dial up so I can not stream ths show and I would like to see the work ( kind of like a trunk show) by the guest speakers... both on the DVDs and on the web pages would be great... not so many that it would steal the thunder of the speakers because let us be real... they make their money by teachng and showing their work ..... but I would like to view their work, workmanship closer.... that is one of the best ways I learn... I am very visual. From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

A while back there was a thread about Quilt Magazine's not being as good as they once were. Well in this months McCalls Quilting I saw many quilts that I liked. One in particular, "Hibiscus" by Lennie Honcoop using hot ribbon applique. I would love for this method to be featured on the show. The finished product is similiar to Beth Wheelers beautiful flowers. From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see Linda Taylor (The Gammill-Quilting-Lady) doing free motion quilting!!!
I have seen her working (online shows), and she has just been such a greate inspiration to me daring to try out the free motion quilting. She will inspire a lot of members to try it out, and if we can do some free motion it never hurts to learn some more
Linda is the sweetest ever, a greate teacher, a fab quilter!! :lol:From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

My favorite long arm quilter is Karen McTavish... I would LOVE to see her on the show... she has been very innovative with her quilting designs. I love reading her books and watching her DVDs... and I do not even have a long arm quilting machine.
I hope she would be willing to travel as she recently had a little baby boy. From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

I'd like to see something on miniatures and paper piecing.
Or Flavin Glover who has wonderful variations on Log Cabin blocks. Her web site is at: http://www.flavinglover.com/
I've also used the Stamps by Kate to facilitate traditionally (English) paper-pieced projects. (No more mylar or paper templates.) Her site is: http://www.bykate.com/

BUMMER... that means I will not see those shows till they come out on DVD.... a million years from now.... I wish they would release the DVDs faster. I get tooooooo far behind.... and no we can not / will not get wireless or cable ... we are just too far away from the connection and the cost is too much at this time.
Maybe if I win the lottery.

QUESTION TO ALL???
Does TQS ever have any more traditional quilters on the show? On the first season they had a lot of ART QUILTERS and yes I like art quilts but I want to see other types of quilting... more traditional, some hand works, applique, paper piecing.... etc.
Isn't Alex's quilting more traditional? Does she ever show her quilts? I am only on SEASON ONE DVD so I have no way of knowing what other types of shows have been shown.
I like some of the more traditional styles of quilting too. Do they ever teach or review the basics?

I think they have a pretty good mix of styles. I'm a very traditional quilter--Civil War fabrics make my heart sing--and the Road Trip stop at one of the quilt shops in Gold Country showcased 1800's fabrics and quilts. (That's why Alex has been teaching the LeMoyne Star) All that said, I enjoy watching the shows with the art quilts, even though I may never make one. I just enjoy gaining the knowledge of how they are made. TQS had Annie Smith a few shows ago, and she's a traditional quilter. Also, Joe Cunningham is very traditional in his methods, but he creates art quilts based on traditional quilts. I hope someday they'll have Ginny Beyer with her wonderful hand piecing.

I think I am a traditional quilter because I have only made three real quilts about 5-10 years apart.... They were very simple blocks and a log cabin.
I may be an art quilter cause I made my own patterns and just figure out my own way as I go along.... I always thought that was ignorance on my part cause I did not know the correct way to make a quilt. Necessity being the MOTHER OF INVENTION, I just worked on it til I got it done.
I am currently taking classes to learn how to quilt... I wanted to learn better techniques. At least techniques that did not take a life time to complete a quilt. I really enjoy the process, but I tend to go my own way.... The simple way is not the way for me... I always look for a unique and different way to do somehting.... ( MOSLTY FROM IGNORANCE, AND VANITY) That is why I get into so much trouble.
I find I am not much into patterns... I usually change the pattern in some way as I work on it... Probably cause I can not READ A PATTERN OR FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. I ALWAYS try to do it the way the directions says but it works out different....
Oh well ...
.
