Jinny Beyer
I would LOVE to see my quilting hero, master quilter, Jinny Beyer, as a guest on The Quilt Show. She does absolutely everything by hand and her work is perfect! I am amazed at how fast she hand pieces. In addition to this talent, she is also a master at color. Alex did a podcast with her when she first began her podcasts, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I'm really hoping that the day comes when I see Jinny's smiling face in my TQS Newsletter as an upcoming guest. TQS rocks -- keep all of the good stuff coming -- I love it all!

I agree, Ginny Beyer is amazing. She ALMOST inspired me to try hand-piecing, but it's on the "some day" list. Funny thing, my daughter's sewing machine suddenly went on the fritz, right in the middle of a project we're working on together, and my immediate thought was, "well...we could try hand-piecing - I know someone who does that exclusively, and it's wonderful!" My DD didn't take the bait, though.

Ditto, ditto, ditto regarding Jinny Byer. I'd also love to see Georgia Bonesteel on an episode. She's one of the pioneers in the industry. She hooked me years ago on quilting, when she showed me that I didn't have to deal with an entire quilt at one time. I could quilt step by step, then put it all together. Others have built on this technique since, but stand on her shoulders.

I'm a Georgia Bonesteel fan, too. I was a very young quilter when she first came out with her lap quilting and just had to try it. It really does make a difference when you quilt as you go!
Alex and Ricky -- hear our pleas and bring Jinny and Georgia to TQS for us to see

Lynn,
I saw that same ad. What a shame. From what I've heard, her seminars at HH have always been awesome.
Maybe it's just come to the point of no longer being cost effective.
I just went to her website: http://www.jinnybeyer.com and she does say she is NOT retiring and she will be coming out with a new book. So that's a good thing 8)

Yes, I saw the ad, too and my heart just about stopped. As long as she's not retiring!
Lately, I've been mad for scrap quilts, and I found her book, The ScrapLook, in the library. It was published back in 1985, but it's still one of the best things I've ever read on the techniques of making a successful scrap quilt. There's even a great chapter on Charm Quilts! Got to see if it's still available for purchase.

When I first read the post about Jinny retiring, I was in shock  . . . and then I was worried
. . . thank goodness she is still going to be out there for us, as in my opinion, she is the "Master Quilter." I have always wanted to go to her Hilton Head seminar, so I guess it really is now or never. I'm happy to hear about her new book and will look forward to it
