How do you hang quilts on TQS?

I noticed hammers and nails and boards hanging quilts on a recent Production File - how exactly do the quilts get hung? They look so nice in your studio! What is the board that is holding them up? I've tried a couple of things that are thin, but too "bendy" and yours look nice and flat!

I saw this too,and was wondering how they were doing this. I just saw the quilt, nail, hammer and I was like what are they doing! How in the world are they hanging thier quilts so nice and flat. They look great.

      Great question.

We use long flat wooden slats and sometimes thin metal rods. The gallery has a stash of both and decide which to use based on the size of the quilt.

The slat is nailed into the wall. Once a segment is taped, the quilts come down and the wall is puttied (not sure if this is a word) and touched up with paint. The wall paint is allowed to dry and the next set of quilts are hung. This all takes place over about a 2 hour period.

Lilo, do the quilts have hanging sleeves?? I'm still not picturing it. THANKS,

          Anne,

We ask all artists coming to the tapings to have sleeves on the back of their quilts. We then just insert the flat slats or rods in and hang. It really helps to hang the quilts during the short time between show tapings.
