Rosemary, I have been doing the Cindy Needham course over on Craftsy.com and she says that you should SID 'ESS' (every stinkin' seam)! That centre block will be fun. :shock:

I've been doing it too - and I very much doubt that even Cindy would ESS the centre block - I mean how much movement would you get from something that is stitched across & down every inch, let alone inside the blocks :shock: my only problem is I dislike SID on principal - it seems like a cop out to me.

Here we are 'Caught Red-handed's' first exhibition! The half circle piece at the back is a bishops cope, and next to it is a blackwork bed spread, all 1/12th scale or smaller.

I forgot to say that it is at Hedon Muesum (just to the right of Hull on the map) and is an exhibition put on by the Hull & East Riding Branch of the Embroiderer's Guild.

The oakleaves are part of a William Morris design, which I drew onto tracing paper and stitched through and is a very starty-stoppy design to machine, but looks great, although it nearly wants to be a whole cloth by itself.
