Profiles & other things I don't understand
I'm wondering if we can still see each other's profiles with this new website. Maybe we can, but I haven't figured it out yet. Sometimes (not always) if I am making or sending something to someone, I like to look at their profile to see what colours they like best, what type of fabrics, what kind of quilts and what kind of quilter they are, what they are most interested in etc. Does this feature still exist on the 'new' forum?
Another question - what are the "Topic icons" used for? Has anyone used them yet?
Well, I still have a lot of questions, not much time and a little hesitant about the whole 'new' thing. I'm not a techie by any stretch of the imagination, but I wonder why the super-techies couldn't have given a dry run or a 'dress rehearsal before launching the website with all of it's glitches. I suppose if I knew more about computers, that might be obvious to me, but I don't get it. Like, a rocket launch has to work the first time, right? Is this not a little easier than a rocket launch? Well, if you're still reading, thanks for 'listening'.

Terrie...As much as I love it ..this site is getting more confusing and difficult the harder I try to
figure it out. You post ed and it showed up 4 or 5 places....I think...Profiles don't have that personalized
info we had before..no place for it anywhere...Posts are duplicated all over the place as are pictures.
Over run with duplication, it seems ,in every area...If I thank you on forum..it shows there and in Community.
Why ????Community is disjointed..posts are shown out of context..don't know what folks are talking about.
I don't get pictures but I do get posts in every notification. I know...I can turn that off. But I like to know
what the traffic is  I'm trying not to vent much and let those who know how these things work
do the sorting out. You're not the only one who's having aggravations. I'd better quit...going to go sew !!!

Hi Terrie -
You can see the new profiles by clicking on a user's avatar. I agree with Marilyn that the profile isn't as nice as the old one, but you can see the pictures of that person's quilts. The quilts that each user had in the old gallery were put into photo albums on the new profile. But now when you add a quilt to the gallery, there is no reference to it on your profile so you have to also upload a picture in one of your photo albums if you want others to see it on your profile. Seems like a bit oversight for a quilting Web site where the most important thing on your profile should be your quilts. But I've already mentioned that several times with no response so I'm getting tired of repeating myself on all of these things.
Marilyn, I believe the "wall" on the Community page is just designed to show you where the current traffic is occurring on the site. There may be things happening that you don't know anything about that might be in an area of the site that you don't normally check or even know about. I've seen this on other sites. You should be able to get to the appropriate place on the Web site from the wall, if you see something that interests you to see what the full discussion or whatever is. I've always ignored the wall on other web sites because my interests have been very narrow in those places. I've also been ignoring it here, but in the future might want to keep my eye on it so I don't miss anything. Right now there's so much that doesn't work right on this site that I'm keeping my interactions minimal. I'll probably even stop using the group pages since I clicked on a button on the mug rug page to add a comment using my work laptop and now I can't even get to the TQS site at all on that computer. All I can get is an error page, even after clearing out my browser cache and restarting the browser. I'll reboot the computer when I have a chance to see if that helps. The same thing happened to Lois (and rebooting didn't help her), so hopefully they can figure it out so she can get back on the site. I'm going to be careful what I click from now on so I don't lose access on my personal laptop, too.

Thank you ,Nancy...for all the insight and help and encouragement ! I'm not at all computer smart!
It's magic in my book ! And still I'm amazed that is whole operation has been such a struggle for
the folks making the change. All is a bit a jumble for now. I'll renew and continue to try to stay
positive about it all....venting as little as possible !! Now...have a holiday craft fair to go to this
morning and a local parade and tree lighting tonight....( all very small I might add !) Maybe
some Christmas spirit will invade my house and a few decor changes will come about. :P :cheer:

Nancy that's happened to me I can't get on TQS with my ipad at all now. I'm sure I was looking at mugrugs pictures when it went wrong. After a panic I'm fine on laptop so with any luck ipad will come back if I do a clean out. Not sure how but I'll try, I may come to you for advice.
You can't follow anything on community wall, I agree it's not worth following except to see people changed avatars and things.

I'll try to help if I can, but I don't know what help I'd be. I'm not a Web or Browser person so I don't know much beyond what I tried, which didn't work. Lois was able to get on using a different browser and has asked TQS for help, but I haven't heard from her again so don't know if they are figuring it out. I hope she makes it back!! I'm staying away from groups now, just in case. I don't want to lose access to the forums and the shows!Originally posted by "twiglet" post=124533Nancy that's happened to me I can't get on TQS with my ipad at all now. I cannot add photos of my quilts to my page, or anywhere. I think it is an iPad issue.
I really miss the old show and tell, the BOM photos, everything is so confusing now. I am staying away for now.
How can we let Bob know how much joy we got from the ease of the old site? Could we just write snail mail? I am so going to miss him while trying to follow all those doing the new BOM. Janet
