*** "Do you know which accuquilt dies are going to be used for the 2012 BOM? I would like to put them on my Christmas list. Thanks."
Most of the applique shapes use my new Heather Feather dies (Heather Feather 1 and Heather Feather 2). There are also quite a few circles, which show up on various dies. Circle 2", 3" 5" would be a good one. Daisy has the 1.25" circles (of which there are a lot!). Round Flower has 1". Dresden Plate has 4".
*** "Does anyone know the type thread used yet? I want to use my Superior Thread coupon to purchase part of it."
I use AURIfil Cotton Mako ('cos it's my favorite!) in both 50wt and 28wt. You can use any thread that you like. The Superior Rainbows would be fun for the applique. Alex's Masterpiece would be good for piecing.
Hope this helps!
Sarah :-)

I recently ordered the Heather Feather #1 and #2 dies from Accuquilt and they are both beautiful and can be used for a multitude of other projects too. You really will get your money's worth with them. I can't wait for the BOM 2012 to start. Congratulations, Sarah, on an incredible design.

For those of us who do not have a GO! (yet), will these shapes be doable with traditional cutting? Are they done with fusible? Needleturn? Or whatever method we are comfortable with?
For instance, I have done freezer paper applique, with and without starch, and both machine and needleturn stitching. I have also done fusible applique using the donut method (cut out the middle of the shape to keep it soft). I am interested in Ricky's Stable Stuff method also to create a bit of a trapunto look. Would any of these be appropriate for the new BOM?

Michelle,
You can definitely make this quilt even if you don't have a GO! There will be templates each month, so you can use which ever method you prefer. Designs will be included to allow you to do the applique with an embroidery machine (if you have one!). The instructions are for doing fusible applique. I'd love to see it done using needleturn - something I've never done before!
Debbie - Thanks! I love how versatile the Heather Feather dies are (and also that they are GO! Baby compatible). Ricky is the one who suggested I use them for this project, and I'm really glad he did!

Thanks for the quick reply Sarah!
I think that the chances of my actually doing needleturn are slim to none, given how long it takes me!! But I do a mean machine blanket stitch! LOL
You comment about the embroidery leads to my next question: I don't have an emb machine and don't even know how to do that! Do we just use fabric that has nice designs on it to mimic the embroidery part? Or???

I just started (and deleted) a thread on this and finally found this one! I was pushed over the edge with the 2012 BOM and ordered my AccuQuilt Go! yesterday for my Christmas present. I wondered what dies I'll want to add. I suppose I don't need them all NOW.
I'm excited for the new BOM. I've wanted to do one of Sarah's patterns for awhile and this is a great chance!
I love using my emb module ... any more info of what will be used? Embroider the appliques in the hoop? Stand alone emb designs?Jules~

I'm so on the fence about the BOM. I fell so far behind on the 2011 one that I'm just putting it aside. I don't want to spend a lot of money on dies, etc. and then not do the project. I think I'll save each month and make the decision later. I know-then I'll be behind on this one. Oh well..............
