I liked LADY RAGS categories. Many other good ideas. But only 6 would be tough. Hopefully there will be sub-categories such as:

    Quilting
    Machine
    Hand
    Piecing
    Machine
    Hand
    Applique
    Machine
    Hand

    etc.

Totaly agree with Ladyrags as simple but to the point.

Also very much agree with "POST SINCE THE LAST TIME YOU WERE HERE.... but should not roll off as frequently. .... Stay up for 24 hours......I also often have to leave the computer and when I come back its to hard to find what was new.

The "View Posts since last visit" option has never worked for me. I have always had to scroll through and look for current dates!
Is there a magic setting that my computer is lacking???
I know I've missed a lot of good stuff!

And....I vote for an EASY WAY to post photos in the forum!!!

Alex, I don't get the "bell" thingy either.
I have to check the dates of the last posting on the far right. It's a real PITA to do it, so I don't very often. That's why I'm seldom on the forum.

Nan, every time I've ever clicked on "view posts since last visit" I always get the message: "No topics or posts met your search criteria", but I can see by the posted dates that there have, in fact, been lots of posts.

The forum has always been frustrating to me, and the fact that it's so difficult to post photos means that I don't want to come here often.

                Awww Margo ((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))

I must admit that this is one of the stranger forums out there, phpBB ones are usually very flexible and easy to use. I think that Alex hit the nail though, it was put together rather quickly not knowing quite what to expect. Hopefully Bob is on the case and will dazzle us all with an upgrade soon! (Of course, there will be plenty of moans about a new one. Humans hate change!  )

Margo, sometimes I get the " no new posts" message, but thats usually when I log in, peek at the forum and use the othe tabs on the site, when I go back to the forum, it reflects that I already read the message. Hope this helps.

btw, thanks for the reminder on the pics.

I used to get e-mail messages when anything new had been posted on a topic I had made a comment on, but that doesn't happen any more either, unless I specifically check the box at the bottom to "notify me when a reply is posted".

Alex, if you are looking for specific functions, I would love it if this forum worked like another quilty site that I frequent.
On the Machine Quilter's Resource forum, the topic with the most recent response is listed at the top of the page, and there is a logo to the left that shows whether or not I have made a comment on that topic. There is also a logo that says "new", and if I click on it, I am automatically taken to the first comment on that topic that I haven't already read, so there is no need to search around each topic to find the new stuff. It works LOTS better than this forum.

The problem that I've had with the bell "thingies" is that they don't show up the first time I log on the morning if there are new posts so I have to scroll down looking for dates. Other times, they do. Could just be my computer. I also get the same message Margo gets when I click on "view posts since last visit".
