    Old Simply Quilts Episode

An old Simply Quilts episode featured a woman who was giving a class in her home using ugly fabrics. The block she used featured the ugly fabric on half of a square. The other half, I believe, had quarter square triangles. I think one of the quarter sq triangles matched the ugly fabric and the others complimented it. My question is, does anyone remember this show and what the layout/arrangement of the blocks was. Was there a name for the block? This blocked used scraps. If no one remembers, does anyone have a simple block/pattern for scraps?

Mary, I can't help you with the Simply Quilts info but here is a place to find great patterns, she has one for ugly fabric too.
http://www.lynbrown.com For a limited time Lyn Brown has a free e-book you can download that contains 18 of her patterns for 9 1/2" squares of fabric. We did several 9 1/2" swaps a month in her class and she's providing all the patterns in one e-book. They're easy patterns and not to be missed! http://lynbrown.com/?p=1418#more-1418 (for the e-book)

The Ugly Duckling quilt pattern is here:

Nancy and Shirley, I'm glad you like Lyn Brown's site. She's a great teacher and posts many good things on her site. Check back again sometime. I attend her class weekly and she posts her new patterns on her site often.
