But the garden needed it ...
I think a UK section could be very useful, and even expand that to any other country that's well represented on TQS. If I ever visit Australia I'll want to know all the unmissable quilt stops 8)

Yep, good idea, on a more serious note, the Panorama prog. tonight was about the nurse Margaret Haywood, don't know if you saw it, anyway, if you go to timesonline there is a link to sign the petition to get her reinstated if you feel that it would be justified! What are you ladies working on at the moment? I am having trouble finding fabric for a border for a quilt I have had on the go for months!

I did the petition. We updated our Whistleblowing Policy at the end of last year so was really shocked they could get away with that!!
You will find what you're looking for at Malvern no doubt.

I'm all for it. I sometimes get 'confuselled' by the differences between the US and the UK when it comes to quilting.
I also occasionally go to small quilt exhibitions, if they are within reach of where I live, but I have never posted about it in 'Quilt Shows', because it's only of interest to anybody who is in the UK. If we had our own 'wee corner', we might end up meeting.
I've just finished the bindings on two quilts (pictures in my profile), and will pick up one of my numerous WIPs (I just love starting something new, and then get side-tracked by stuff like my job) and see if I can't finish something else.
My next treat will be going to FoQ in August (Ali will be there too). I'm sure we can set up a meet. From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

That's great Lorchen! Even if we start with just the four of us it could probably encourage others out of the woodwork too.
It feels good when you have the right head on to clear the decks of WIP's! Unfortunately all mine are to do with decorating and making the house straight fisrt. My head is so full to bursting with things I want to do I've started making notes!! Can't life be a right pain when work gets in the way eh!! :lol:From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

Thats very interesting Ann, but I think the point was to have a catagory for those of us in UK, of course, anyone is welcome to read what is happening.Originally posted by snowplow3840I am not a "UK quilter" but am interested in quilts, life style etc. from the UK and other places where there are TQS members. Maybe we could get a group of categories for quilts and photos from different countries. Alex, how about it? Hugs, Ann

Ann, no problem. We make you an Honorary Brit.
If you check the 'search' function, there are over 200 members in the UK alone. Quite a number will not read the forum, but you never know. Some of them may just be too shy to participate

I think I'd like a bit more of a 'UK' section rather than just an 'international corner'.
I would like to post a thread with web sites I have found, another with suppliers I have used and another with shows I have heard about not just show you what I made over here, just like you do with these items in the US.
It would perhaps then encourage others, even other county members if there were enough per country, to come forward perhaps and ask for an OZ or Swiss or Norwegian section etc.
Truly make TQS international.

I had no intention of suggesting that the quilters from the UK should not have their own thread. I was suggesting a broad category underwhich each country could have its own thread. Then anyone could find it easily and read about quilting in any or all of the countries entered. I have learned a lot from the Australian quilters that are members and would look forward to learning more about quilting in the UK. (P.S. I have made a number of friends among quilters from other countries including the UK and would hope to continue and expand that circle of friends.) Ann
