    Open eye machine needle

Hi all...I remember reading recently that someone uses open eye machine needles when using invisible thread, but I can't find the spot that I read this. I have also tried to find the open eye for machines on google but can't come up with one.
I would appreciate it if the lady that uses them would drop me a line and let me know where she purchases them. Thanks in advance.

Don't know about such a needle for machines, but, you guys, CHECK THIS OUT - http://www.spiraleyeneedles.com/About.html I found this lady months ago and got a bunch of these marvelous needles. I had encouraged her to tell Ricky and Alex about them, but now I see she's out there advertising and appearing at shows, so I don't think she'd mind me touting her site. The best new tool in quite a while. Can't wait to see what she comes up with in the future.

Hi everyone...I found the needle I was looking for, bu the name is "Self threading needle. I found it at quilters warehouse.com. Looks like they only come in a size 12/80. It was suggested by someone that is was good for us people withe old eyes or vision problems to use with the invisible thread. I also saw the spiral needles on a site but didn't know much about them. I see from one of the above comments that someone really likes them. Thanks anyway and sorry I wasn't using the right term for the needle...Nan

WOW! I've just ordered some, too! I've tried the "self threading" kind and it was frustrating when the thread shreaded! This may be the answer!

I had tried the ones that open at the top of the eye and didn't like them because the thread popped out all the time. But am so interested in these because they are designed better I think. Thanks so much for sharing them.

Nan, could you post a link? I'm interested b/c you said it's a machine needle... I never can get my automatic threader thing to work! I looked on that site & can't even find machine needles anywhere!
                      Thanks, Florence

Florence ...I'm sorry I gave you the wrong site...just checked my notes. Here is the link /www.quilting-warehouse.com/
As you can see it is quilting instead of quilters warehouse. Hope this helps...I just typed in self threading machine needles on the site and voila there they were. I aslo have a problem with my self threader working on my 440 and hopefully this will solve the problem. The only thing is I only found the size 12/80. Good luck Nan

Florence and Nan, the needle threader on my machine never worked either. After using the machine for five years I took it in for maintenance (didn't know this was something a person should do!) They fixed the automatic needle threader and it's wonderful. That was my Elna. The day I took it in for "repair" I went home with a 440. The needle threader on the 440 is tricky, not easy to use. Elna has Bernina beat in that regard.

My 435 needle threader is a real pain, too! I finally gave up on using it.

I love the needle threader on both of my machines (210 and 730). It took a little practice to get the coordination thing down pat, but after that--no problem! Betty D
