I have been asking for this same thing since I got here...TOO MANY TOPICS THAT COULD BE GENERALIZED and organized into more basic groupings... ie hand quilting techniques, machine quilting, long arm quilting, hosting quilt shows.... Forum and Message Board should also be moved to the bottom of the list....
So far no one has done anything and it would be a major overhaul to the board systems so I do not think it will happen soon. You will also find many of the posters like the board just the way it is. I like the people here so I no longer quibble about the board ...but you will notice I usually just post in THIS AND THAT... the most general topic on the board.
Good luck with your campaign.. .. you might want to send your comments directly to the WEB MASTER... the link is at the top of the page. They will answer but I do not think there will be any changes... Remember there is a small technical staff and they spend most of their time getting the show filmed.... so it is a matter of PRIORITIES... more DVD and THE QUILT SHOW PLEASE... I will be happier with that.
Have a good one I am off to watch my new DVD... Grand Finalle...From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

There are always 2 sides (at least) to a story and I find myself agreeing with everyone on this topic.
I joined a year after the startup of TQS and many others have joined since then. I try to search the forum before I ask a question or start a new topic. Some archives are difficult to handle. I find that I used the selection for "posts since last visit" all the time. I understand that that option doesn't work for everyone.
I also agree with LadyRags: if the small staff is busy with the shows & DVDs, I prefer them to spend their time doing those activities.

Maybe they could eventually archive some of it. I would hate to lose potential answers to questions. Just this past weekend I put in two different searches: one for BSR and the other for machine applique and found answers to both questions without having to start a new thread. It was very helpful finding those answers so quickly. Sandi in 'the sun is shining today' FL

Ruth, some of us are a step ahead of you and have already started filling those extra 6 spot for pictures of quilts.
But how can we persuade the members who are too shy to post any pictures of their quilts to jump right in and let us drool over their lovely work?? Any ideas??

I think they should make an archival Forum where they can move the old ones and then clean up the one we use all the time. They can probably make a program to automatically archive at a given time. That way, we get a cleaned up forum and are able to ref the old ones too, right here on the web site. What do you think?

I don't have a lot of experience with forums in other sites but I have learned to use this one with ease. I don't mind the extra topics because sometimes they give me something to think about and some times it is exactly the right place to enter something. If some things were archived that would be ok, but I hope we never lose the old stuff because every so often I need to refer back to something and I usually can find it (or I just ask and somebody else knows exactly where it is).
I belong to another group that sends out a newsletter with the entries when there are a certain number. It is really interesting but IMHO very hard to read and then when I clear out my e mail the info is gone. So I have learned to love the forum as it is. (if you read some of my old entries you will know this is a change of heart for me, I used to want it changed oh well I reserve the right to change my mind) So my vote is archive if you need to but otherwise leave it alone. But in the end the forum belongs to TQS and what ARJJ and their staff do will be fine with me because all in all I have no complaints about the site and its various parts.
