A place to go for quilt critiques

This doesn't exactly fit here, but it doesn't exactly seem to fit anywhere and this seems the closest place. What would others think about a space on TQS where those of us interested in receiving professional critiques of our quilts could submit a couple of good pictures and (perhaps even pay something), and receive a judge-type critique to help us improve our quilting. It would be hard to take, maybe, but could be really useful for improvement.

That sounds like a really good idea. I love the idea of some constructive criticism to help me grow as a quilter.

Maybe your quilt guild would be willing to have a judge visit the guild meeting, show or an event where the quilts could be judged. Those members could then have their quilts judged.

Another method would be to have the guild sponsor an IN HOUSE MEMBER who would agree to take the class at AQS / the state equivelent to learn how to judge quilts. A guild where I live does this every year. The guild pays annually for a member to go to the class. The agreement is that person will go to the class and agree to judge at the guild for 5 years or she will have to pay the guild back on a prorated schedule. They now have 5 members who have taken judging classes.

The guild benifits because their members also learn what is expected at quilt shows. Mostly it is good techinques in what ever medium you choose to work in. The members learn from those that went to judge classes what makes a good quilt.

I do not know what criteria this guild uses to select the members to go to the classes. I do think it has to do with good workmanship and helping the guild prior to selection. I do think the quilter selected has to be nominated by her peers. I have only been to this guild once or twice and did not pay attention cause I was there to vist with my frined.
