I have quite a few UFO's or VIPs, lol. Some may never see the light of day again, like the ballarina pillow I was making to match the wall hanging - I ran out of the pink and now cannot find a matching bolt anywhere - the color is always off
I hold onto it because maybe I will incorporate those blocks into something else some day. Then there is my son's baby quilt that I messed up the hand quilting on (it was my first time, lol) and stained trying a pouncing technique that just did not work (cinnamin, lol) I love the quilt too much to get rid of it but it needs SO much TLC to salvage I just can't bring myself to haul it out right now. Other VIPs are ...
My husband's tee shirt quilt
a set of table runners and place mats
Multiple cross stitch projects - probably 20 or more and the oldest at least 17 years old now
2 Christmas wall hangings from 2 years ago
Several crayon bags started but not finished.
Crochet Barbie gown - finished but still needs bead work added
And of course there are works in progress...
Machine quilting my SIL's quilt
Binding my Seascape quilt
Rhapsody quilt in the planning stages
TQS BOM - January is almost finished, February is in planning
Starting hand peicing Civil War Diary Quilt blocks once I have fabric.
Sooo... I keep pretty busy

I hadn't heard that before (PIGS) and laughed out loud!! :lol:Originally posted by lwinigerbefore I reward myself with a new project. I try to at least work on a ufo..but the reward projects are more fun..then they become ufo's...but if I finish this little one I can start a new project...
aaarrrggg!!!
my roswell cupboard of ufo's is quickly becoming a pigs (projects in grocery sacks) sty.
I'm sty-mied.

Well, I have to be honest...at last count( this January) I had 56! Some are huge projects, some are tiny but I feel a little more in control after having located them all, weeded out those that needed to find new homes with friends and assessed whether I had any intention of finishing those that remained. I found that before the count was done, I had only vague recollections of "that class project tucked away somewhere"and instead of the immensity of this freezing me creatively or depressing me, I actually feel empowered. I certainly have goals to meet now. I find it a great day when I can work on one of these for at least an hour, preferably more! After working on an "oldy but goody" for at least 3 hours I allow myself to work on something else on the list or something newer. I haven't made any declarations like"I can't buy anything new until these are all done" because I know I would never stick to that and I just don't need the guilt! Oh, by the way, my current "new" project is the TQS BOM. So I guess that makes the list at #57!!

Well..... I will be hated. Zero UFO's. I make one quilt at a time start to finish. Having said that I will start planning/cutting a new quilt while still sewing on binding of the the last quilt. Or if the quilt is still on the longarm machine. It could be I'm too organized. My sewing room stays neat when I'm sewing.
Now when I did cross stitch I had (and still do) have UFO's! Maybe I learned a lesson from that. :-)

Sally thank you for your honesty. 57 is a lot of unfinished, have to get at projects. Like me, tackle them one at a time minute by minute. I am off to tackle a few of my UFO.Originally posted by SallyquiltWell, I have to be honest...at last count( this January) I had 56! Was helping DD #1, making her first quilt--baby will be twelve at this rate! Anyway, this morning she said--how many unfinished quilts do you have. I pointed out some of them and she said, "Good, I told my husband that, my not finishing my craft projects is in my genes. I blamed it on you, mom!".

It must be hereditary because you should see all my father's unfinished projects, not quilt related, but projects, tons of projects.Originally posted by ritzyWas helping DD #1, making her first quilt--baby will be twelve at this rate! At least your daughter is attempting quilting, I think that is very exciting.

Well Ritzy, even though that was a little harsh of her at least some good has come from your unfinished projects. KarenLyndhurst, Ohio USA - East Side Suburb of Cleveland, Ohio

Lulabelle, I think I'm going to sort through my UFO's like you did--good idea. Maybe I can weed a few out that I don't want to finish. Florence, you are so lucky to have those blocks! I love fabrics from the 1800's and turn of the century (20th). And, Sally, with 57 UFO's--I think I can declare you the winner!!! (I'll take the title back if after I sort through my UFO's I find I've got 58 or more!).

WIP, work in progress
I have three quilt tops to be quilted
carpenters star, crazy curves love knott, crazy curves blues
(( I plan to finish 6 quilt tops before I get back to quilting them ))
I have a star quilt pattern (in a box) a pretty pattern, one day I just decided to make something else and that some else led to many others.
I have a king size photo quilt not finished.
I have a scrappy rug, with one inch strips of fabric wrapped around cotton clothes line with a zig zag stitch, it's pretty neat.
I'm starting on quilt top #4. I haven't picked out a pattern yet.

I have one completed top that needs to be quilted. I have completed my Jan and Feb blocks for Bouquet for a New Day quilt and I am getting ready to start my son's Mariner's Compass Quilt. But under the bed in my daughter's old room is the first quilt I ever started - about 1985. It is about half quilted and I doubt if I will ever finish quilting it. I may rescue part of what is quilted because my kids 'helped' me quilt some and I want to keep what they quilted. That is if I can tell their quilting from mine. I have come a long way as a quilter.

I have two complete tops that need to be layered, basted and quilted or tied: a huge bargello (probly gonna tie it), and a scrappy quilt. I've just started my youngest's heirloom quilt. It oughta be pretty cool. Also, I've started making yo-yo's for dolls for the grandbabies. On my list of quilts to get started on are five baby quilts. Lots to do! I love it!
