cj, what part of your rv do you use as your studio. we're considering full-timing in about a year and a half so i'm gathering info. right now i set my machine up on the table and then we have to move things around to eat. it looks like you're in a slide but where? our slide in our motor home is the living area
- IP

The slideout with my Bernina 730 and embroidery module on the built in desk is in the living area, and you can see that the SewEzi table with my Bernina 440 is butted up against the kitchen counter, again in the living area.
We have a huge RV. It has 4 slides in it, and they're quite deep, otherwise I wouldn't be able to do this.

It's a 5th wheel yes. I actually wanted a motorhome myself, until I really looked at the interior space, and realized I'd go quietly insane.
In all honesty, ours isn't that great of a unit, it's a mid level 5th wheel and since we fulltime, we'd probably be better off with a unit rated for fulltime living. However, in the nearly 3 years we've been in this unti, I've yet to find a comparable floorplan, no matter what the price range. This is the biggest, most well laid out 5th wheel I've come across.
I've still managed to take over the unit with sewing junk. I can't stand clutter, so it's an ongoing battle! Today I've removed SIX bags of clothing, re-arranged things in the bedroom, and (hehe) now have managed to fill the storage space beneath the bed with my cutting mats, plastic thread cases that house my entire Isacord embroidery thread collection, and odds and ends.
Now if we just had a Murphy bed....

actually az quilting and quilter Lynn with a little cooperation from dh, you can quilt quite well in a 34ft. Class a motorhome with one slide. (and since both of you know me by now would I feed you a line) I carry a round card table, a large rotary cutting board which I have backed with a pressing surface and my Viking sewing machine along with all the various and sundry rulers, squares, rotary cutters scissors etcetc needed for a pleasant quilting experience in our 34 ft. Flair motorhome which has a fairly deep living room slicde.(to the unitiated that means my couch and dinette slide out giving us about 24-30 inches of extra floor space when we are set up.) The round card table works the best because I get a bigger work space without the protruding corners. My fabric stash and any batting, pattern books or other necessary things are placed in any spare nook or cranny of the storage space with a lot of it under the bed or couch. I try to only have one project out at a time and being a multitasking quilter that is very difficult for me. We have a small table between the passenger chair and the extra chair in the living area where my sewing machine lives for the summer. It is not spacious and sometimes if I am basting or binding a full size quilt I have to move to the laundry room in whatever RV park we happen to be at. But it works, during the summer of 05 I completed three twin-double size quilts including the quilting and numerous pillow tops, wall hangings ,table runners etc as gifts. In 06 I did ten - twelve wall hangings, two small bed size quilts, three large table runners and a number of other smalll projects. This summer I have the material for three bed size quilts, fabric bowls that I plan to use for hostess gifts and /orChristmas gifts and I have the design for a much more complex and sophisticated quilt for myself. I will report at the end of the summer how much actually gets done but I think most of it will. I do not have any pictures of the motorhome seetup right now but will post them as soon as we are totally moved back in and ready to go. (we fulltimed for 4 years after retirement so I do know about having to carry EVERYTHING. WHERE THERE IS A WILL THERE IS A WAY AND if you are committed to the RV lifestyle and being a quilter you will find it in your own way. Join me at a campsite some day and I will give you the grand tour Ann

You are so right snowplow! If you want to quilt and RV, it can be done! I just meant that I couldn't do it in a smaller RV. My situation is atypical though. We have 2 German Shepherds with us. Their area takes up the entire half of one super slide. If I set up a card table (and I have!) in the living area, it doesn't leave any place for them to walk around, at least not without bumping me... and I can't have that. Hehe

I would love to share photos of my LAST sewing room. I have moved (if you can believe I would ever leave such a place) and am in the process of putting together a NEW sewing room that is also pretty nice and one I will share photos of when it is in better condition. You can see the other room at http://www.stitchinheaven.com/sewingroom.html
Hope it will give you a few ideas!

There are some pics of my studio at http://community.webshots.com/user/pknord I'd like to say it's not always that messy, but that would be a lie. ops:

Six pictures of my studio can be seen in the Studio album on my webshots page, url below. I'd like to say it's usually a lot neater, but that would be a lie. ops: My fabric collection lives in the large beige steel office cabinets (15 of them total) and the boxes on top.

Look later on there is a whole category just dedicated to this topic -- and since I am "old" and my memory is shot (it was never good) I can't remember the exact category I will come back and edit when I find it if I don't forget. lol Ann P.S. it is under scrap bag topics my sewing space. My shortterm memory redeemed it self and I remembered to do this edited once by Ann to add information.

Well we are no longer in the RV, having bought a house a couple of months ago. We looked and looked, and had a terrible time finding anything we liked, and I ended up with another teensy sewing room, but it's definitely bigger than the RV!
Once I figure out how I want it set up (tough at only 12'x9') I'll probably bring in a cabinet maker to build cabinets for my machines. (maybe, still up in the air on that). I'm currently using my old Koala cabinet (it survived 4 years in storage) and 2 six foot banquet tables.
Oh for a sewing studio!
