Top thread broken warning pfaff- help

Hi please help before I scream or cry .

I have a problem in that my thread warning comes on it beeps and stops the machine then it'll go again after a few seconds. At the moment that is about every 4 seconds, not fun when you are FMQ! Do you know where the sensor is?

I took my machine for service and for the problem and it cost me quite a bit. Got it back friday and its been ok over weekend and I've used it a lot, but now is starting again. I've rethreaded, blown all the gubbins, can't see any loose thread. I've sewn with the cover off but can't see anything abnormal happening.

I contacted pfaff and they said it couldn't be disabled and go to the dealer. So I did but no good. I will contact them again.

Don't want to take it back to the shop it was bought and serviced at, I have no confidence in them as I had no feedback even when I asked and they wouldn't give me the engineers no to ring. They told me it was being sent to pfaff.

Good luck, Wendy! Maybe somebody here reads your story and knows of a sewing machine engineer somewhere in the UK who is short, has a potbelly, no hair, false teeth, but can do magic with sewing machines!

Wendy, I don't have a Pfaff and I was not FMQing, I was embroidering yesterday when I kept the same persistent message that you are getting from your machine: top thread broken warning (I have a Bernina). But, my thread was not broken! I made sure everything was clean and that no little pieces of thread were stuck in and around the bobbin case and in the thread cutter, etcetera. It turned out my top thread tension was a little too loose! I did two things: tightened the tension of the top thread a bit and slowed down a bit. After that, I did not have a problem. I realize this might not apply to your situation but thought I'd share it in the event it helped before you start pulling your hair out!

Thanks, I do tend to sew at 90 miles an hour and I had loosened the top tension to get a better stitch. Hmm I'll try that. Better get a limiter for me. No signs of lint or bits of gubbins.

That must have been really annoying when you are embroidering.

Hi, I posted this a while back- I have a Pfaff and had the same issue, it sounds like!

In case anyone has an old Pfaff like the 7570, I found out how to get rid of the error message when you try to sew with no thread in the needle. (like when marking golden threads quilting paper). I googled it and someone had the answer. It's in the manual, believe it or not!
You select the straight stitch, press the info key, press a right arrow key and the error display options pop up on the screen. How long have I had this machine? 10 plus years. Oh well, better late than never. I don't know if the newer Pfaffs work the same way, probably not.
              Kathy

Can you try this? Hope it's the right answer or leads you there.

Thanks Kathy, its a new C1100 and doesn't have that function or at least I can't access it but perhaps the engineer can.

In the night it came to me I hadn't changed the needle so will try that old chestnut. :P

Wendy, I would get in touch with Pfaff again maybe it needs to go back to them to sort it out.
My Janome completely siezed up when I had only had it a month I took it to the shop where I bought it and they could not fix it, I happened to be at the F O Q and spoke to a lady on the Janome stand and she said send it back to us , she arranged everything and Janome were marvelous, in the end I had to have a new machine as they coudn't fix it either. Great service from Janome.
We pay a lot for our machines and treat them like one of the family and when they are sick we want them well.

Hi Wendy, if you have changed the needle and that hasn't worked I wonder what thread you are using. I had trouble a while back with my Pfaff Expression 2 which it turned out did not like certain threads. When I brought it to my dealer we tried every different kind of thread I could bring to see how it was when he used it and we had to declare certain threads impossible. I traded it in for a Janome Horizon partly because I tried it and loved it, it got great reviews everywhere and it sewed every thread I threw at it even without changing needles. It's just a thought. I hope you get to the bottom of it soon because I know how frustrated you must be feeling. This is why we all have a FEW backup machines.

Thanks, my backup machine starts smoking when I use it so abandoned but a friend will lend me one. Phew I can't go another 4 weeks without one.

Rang the dealer and am taking it back but trying combinations again tonight first including more threads. I am just amazed that when I google this problem there's not much on it.

Wendy, Thank goodness for the friend with the sewing machine. Stuff like this only happens when you are working on something important, when you are super inspired, or when you have a deadline. Ask me how I know! Hang in there.
