Frister and Rossman Cub4!
I keep reading about Featherweights and Jems, and how they are the most amazing little machines. I'm sure they are. But let me enter another contender into the race for 'Favourite Easily Portable Machine': ...... drum roll, please..... release those streamers..... light the fireworks...... The Cub4 by Frister and Rossman!
I have had this amazing little machine since the mid 1970s. It's small and comes in its own hard-shell case. I call it my 'Heavy Metal Friend', because it's so solidly built. The quality of the straight stitch and the zig-zag is better than I have seen on some high-end, lots of bells and whistles machines, and stitch length and width are totally adjustable.
So, if anybody knows where I can get a black t-shirt, size XXXXL that says in fluorecent green letters 'I love my Cub4', please, let me know! From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

Lorchen, does your new Bernina do embroidery? If so, you could make your own t-shirt. It would be a fun project. Oh, are there embroidery police? Is it legal to use one brand of machine to advertise another brand?
Seriously, I will have to check into the Frister and Rossman Cub4. I was thinking of getting a featherweight. Now I will have to research and decide. I don't know if they are available in the US, but I will find out.

Yes, Cathy, my Bernina 'Monster' has an embroidery unit, but I won't have time to play till the Christmas holiday. Too much going on at school.
The Cub4 is no longer made, of course, and even though small it's heavy because of the solid metal body. But I must admit that I like a bit of weight for a sewing machine. They just 'move' less when you are using them and you can 'abuse' them a little more than a flimsy plastic machine. From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood
