It can't be fixed
Alright I am at the end of my rope after having ny Brother machine at one repair shop for a very very long time and paying a nice chunk of change to get it fixed only to discover it wasn't fixed. I took it to another shop. This nice person said it could be fixed but the cost would be quite high due to what the other shop did and the peices missing and the peices still broken. However he is willing to put me in a new machine at a "greatly reduced cost " if I would like one, or he will fix my brother for almost $200.00!!! That would put the repair bills at about $350.00. The machine brands he is talking about are Bernina and Babylock. I don't know what to do. Am I getting scammed or should I take the deal The machine I have is the Disney Embroidery Machine by Brother. It does everything I want it to do. I haven't been ablt to get online too much lately because of computer issues and school was out but yeee haaa school is open now so hopefully I will be able to chat some more.Tags: None

I guess the first action would be to get the money of the original repair back if they didn't do it properly. If the shop is not willing to sort this out, you should contact Brother and ask them to help, or/and consider to contact your local BBB (I think that's what it's called in the US, an organization that helps and advises when business deals go sour). Buying a new machine with embroidery capability will be expensive.
You could of course (wink, wink, tongue-in-cheek, from one mother of lively sons to another) cancel the boys' pocket money until you have enough cash to buy an all-singing, all-dancing Bernina 830.

I have a Baby lock and love it. Baby lock and Brother are basically made by the same people and almost identical in many ways. I would try to get the money back from the first "repair" place and if they will not work with you, report them. The reporting may not do you any good but could help someone else down the line. I guess the next question you need to ask yourself is - how long do you want to be without a machine? The second question is - how much money can you or want to put out? You could get a new one and then eventually repair the other one to have as a second machine, maybe once your boys work the cost off from their allowance. Why not have them put their change in a jar each day to help defray the cost. Good way to teach them about a price for their actions. BobbiFrom the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

I know I need to talk to the original repair shop. Today I am going to contact the Brother company. There must be some kind of warranty on it still. it is only 3 years old at most. My LQS say that they can give my a much better deal on the Babylock machine and they are willing to take payments. After I put half down. Now just to get the half. I guess Gramma's machine has done me well so far. Maybe with christmas coming Santa will be generous to me:roll:   Most likely it will be Mrs. Claus making the arrangements though. Either way it will work out somehow. I have faith.
