    Janome 6600 FMQ and bobbin

I copied this from a Janome forum since we have had a discussion on this forum about this, --- I think it was Brink of Norway - who had tried this and liked it.

Quote from Warbler on Janome site:

I received my new FMQ foot about two weeks ago and really love it. It does not bounce like the P2 foot, it is stationary but it can be raised and lowered depending on the thickness of the quilt! I also purchased the new bobbin case that works with the new foot. As a result of the of these new tools for my FMQ'ing, I was able to move beyond the plateau I reached with my quilting skills. The bobbin case is marked with blue instead of red to distinquish it from the standard case. It has a special tension adjustment that is specifically for FMQ! Prior to this I was having some tension issues with my quilting, the new case and foot were just the thing to solve the problems I had.

A while back, I had done some quilting that started out really good with the old foot and standard bobbin case without readjusting the tension. I had heard some grumbling, maybe here, about tension troubles. Low and behold on my next project my machine started acting up and every time I rounded a corner I would get the famous "eyelashes"! Aaargh! In December, I was viewing the accessories section on the 6600 and saw the new foot and corresponding link to the bobbin case... My quilt group who all happen to be 6600/6500 owbers started talking about it and as a results a bunch of us placed orders for the set through our Janome dealers. So far everyone really loves the foot and new bobbin case. I have not heard anything negative about it yet!

I think if you were considering buying the two accessories, both the foot and bobbin case, it would be money well spent! Do it! I paid $16 for the foot and $26 for the case because my dealer ordered at least 6 sets. She said the 6600 was her all-time best selling machine, so her view was that if she equiped her shop with accessories she could keep her Janome customers happy! Smart woman!

Ooh this is important... The foot is only for the 6600 and 11000 not the 6500 because both the 6600 and 11000 are high shank machines! The bobbin case can work on the 6500/6600/11000 machines. Read the information in the accessories section, here. And here. I see nothing about the 1600 machine.

From the looks of things, it might be a long, long wait. At least we can be quilting while we wait! ha
