Embroidering with 750QE
I just bought a 750QE and want to use the embroidery unit to decorate onesies as baby gifts. I tried making one, using 2 sheets of OESD Polymesh cut away stabilizer under the fabric but it came out very tight (tension too tight?) and not flexible. Can anyone give me recommendations on exactly which stabilizer to use or any other hints to produce a softer produce? Thanks!Tags: None

Try a wash-away stabilizer. Some of this just depends on the design. Some are dense, some are more open. Applique designs work well for baby stuff...try DesignsbyJuJu. She runs awesome specials, the designs stitch out beautifully, and there are tons of child oriented designs, in fact, that's what most of her designs are. A little experimentation goes a long way as you learn to read designs. Keep an eye on the number of stitches in the design. 35,000 stitches in a 5 x 5 design is going to be dense.
By the way, I use one layer of tear-away for her designs.
And I'm not affiliated, just a happy customer!

I would use a wash away also. After spritzing or washing the stabilizer out, iron on the back of the design a soft tricot. It says on the package that it's to protect the tender skin of babies/infants/children but it also keeps the design stabilized. I learned of it from my Bernina dealer in a class so they could point you in the right direction. Sulky makes it too and most other sewing store chains have it. I also ironed the tricot on the back of applique as well. I too have done a lot of applique using my Bernina embroidery module since my now six year old grandson was born. Two sites that I've used and have never been disappointed in are http://www.appliquemarket.com and http://www.planteapplique.com. I'm not affiliated with them either - just a very satisfied Nana! Much to my and my daughter's regret he has gotten too old for most of it. Girls are another matter altogether when it comes to applique, though!
