Hemmer Feet and Bernina 830 - can't get it work!
I have a Bernina 830 LE... beautiful... and I also have a 440QE. I tried my hemmer feet #63 on the 830 and can only sew the hem on fabric that doesn't have a hem. Great for two side of a napkin, but I do have to get all four sides! Any help?Tags: None

The Bernina video only shows how to stitch one side. I don't know if it's possible to stitch a bulky end.

I find these videos much better and more in-depth than the ones Bernina publish:

It is a great site to visit whenever you have questions concerning feet if you own Bernina/Viking/Janome machines.
No affiliations to the company just amazed at all the free information available. Would love to have a shop like that in my neighbourhood!

I haven't got any hemmer feet for my 730 Bernina but have a hemmer foot #003 for my old 4mm Bernina which I have always had mixed success in using so was very interested when I saw that Heirloom Creations had the hemmer foot as part of their feet series.
Claire Kennedy has a video on YouTube as well

but hers is more geared towards the dressmaker of course.

Thank you everyone! Marianne - the Heirloomcreations youtube is the best ! Also these articles from Thread magazine helped me.

Once I got my technique down, I have been able to get my napkins done!
I was worried that the Foot #63 wasn't wide enough to match the feed dogs on the 9 mm Bernina 830. It is narrower, but the feed dogs do catch the fabric once I improved my technique. Using a stabilizer, folding under the beginning, pinning and stitching a few stitches, cropping the corners, and holding onto the threads to get the fabric moving were all I needed to be successful.
Thanks everyone - great Forum!
