I have my frame all set up and am waiting for the Quilt Motion to add to it. I plan on using my 830 (even as heavy as it is) to quilt my quilts, as well as to embroider. I'm expecting the quilt motion to come on Thursday of this week. I will certainly keep you posted. I am also getting the "quick zip system" to put on my leaders so I can zip my backing and top on easily.. Have you looked at that? See Sue Schmeidan, http://stores.longarmconnection.com. There is a great video on QNNTV.com if you are a member there that explains it. Quilt It the Longarm Quilting show, series 2, episode 202.

I'm still waiting on the Quilt Motion part, but I have put my leaders on and loaded the machine with a back, batt and top for practice. It is working pretty well so far when I am working w/o the Quilt Motion so I know I can quilt 'freehand'. I'm curious about the computerized part. I'm sure it will be a learning process, but so far so good. Tomorrow is Thursday and it is delivery day at the Bernina dealer that I support. Perhaps my package will arrive tomorrow.......... We'll see. I'll keep you posted.
I am taking an online class right now with Carla Barrett of http://www.quiltwhisper.com/forum where she shows how to plan out your quilting design on a quilt using various techniques. The class just started on Monday and it goes for 3 wks. You have exercises to do and a lot of opportunity to ask questions. Ask me after 3 wks to see how things go.... I may be a basket case, who knows...........

Hi Margo,
I thought I recognized your photo. You have taken it before? I'm struggling trying to find the time to do the exercises right now. I hope I can get them done. I'm chairing a golf tournament that will be on Aug 2nd, so my mind is on overload. I am hoping that doing the class will give me something else other than golf or auctions to think about.
Kathy, take a look at the web forum and you will be able to see some of the work. What i like about the class so far, is that we are looking at designing something other than just feathers to make a quilt look interesting. It's exactly what I wanted.

Yes, I've taken the class before, and am especially looking forward to the third week when Carla shows how she whispers quilts presented by the students!
I also find that I learn a LOT by watching what the other students post as they do the exercises! You will have access to the class materials for several months, so maybe you will have time later to review everything.

Thanks Judy,
I made the mistake of going to my dealer yesterday because she now has one frame in stock and it's calling my name...
I'll be anxious to hear how it works for you. Is the quilt motion the attachment that allows you to quickly needle down, stop, etc... that fits on the arm? Happy quilting!!

It's amazing how things will call and call until you come and get them. My machine (Bernina 830) has the automatic needle down, etc. Quilt motion is an attachment that allows you to quilt a design that either you have designed (using pattern cad) or an established design already in the Quilt Cad program which you get with Quilt Motion. Take a look at the Berninausa.com web site and look for the webinar about quilt motion. Both videos show how to use the Quilt Motion. I received my quilt motion on Friday and am in the process of putting it together and putting it on the machine. I hope to finish it today and then get my test fabric on the machine and try it out.

Don't waste your money!! Why would anyone want to buy a $9,000.00 (830) to tie up on a frame (which I'm not sure if it would even fit?) If your serious. about doing your own quilts invest your money in one of the small Long Arm Machines. Not much more then the 830..I have 4400 QE that I put on an 8ft frame that I made, but when it's on frame, I can't use to sew till quit is done!! Good Luck!!
