    #57 presser foot

Does anyone know if the #57 presser foot (1/4" patchwork with guide) fits a 440QE? I have a heck of a time getting accurate 1/4" seam allowances (I can't sew in a straight line!), and I'm thinking the guide on this foot may help. Has anyone used one?

Kay, Yes this foot does fit the 440QE and is fantastic. I get a great
scant quarter inch seam. Something else that helps is to run a strip
of painters tape from the quarter inch line out on the bed of your machine to align the fabric as you feed it. Connie in NE Ohio

Yes, it works just fine. Bernina also makes a patchwork seam guide you might like.

I find this little gadget indispensable!

      Have you "Tinkled" today?

When you get the #57 foot just make sure that the guide is adjusted properly. Mine was a generous 1/4 inch instead of a scant 1/4. There is a tiny screw on the back that can be used to adjust the guide position. Now that it is adjusted properly, I LOVE IT!

At the class for new owners today I learned that Bernina has an adaptor foot so we can use feet from other machines. It costs about $12 at the shop where I was and of course, it was out of stock. Then, I'll be able to use my quarter inch foot (quite like the #57) from my Elna.

I have the equivalent foot for my Pfaff and I LOVE it!

It is much less straining to keep my 1/4" seams perfect with this foot.

            I definitely recommend it.
