Like I always say, Google it! Dazors are available on line (what isn't?) but I always google to see who has the best price. I know they have a floor model as well as a desk-top. It just can't be beat, in my opinion, and I of course have no affiliation with the company. I've also seen them in catalogs, where they show a woman with the floor model sitting and doing hand work. And yes, the Dazor is a bit pricey, ( @ $250 I think) but so better than the Otts, and well worth the money for the comfort it gives. So check it out.

I checked out Dazors and I have the Circline model, but I see there are less expensive options. By the way, it's somewhat hefty - not a lamp you'd take to a class. But you can position it any way you like. I love it.

My Dazor floor lamp is over 24 years old and I've had to replace the bulb one time. It gets used daily for: painting miniatures, removing splinters, checking out interesting bugs and leaves, and of course sewing, cross stitch, embroidery. Can you tell which activities are for the grandchildren and which are mine?

Anyone have another type or brand of magnifier and light they are happy with ?

I can't do fluorescent lights---the flicker really bothers my visual processing and brain---.

Right now I just use overhead lights and a small Ott light, but I can't say I'm a big fan of that type of light.

If I really like the warmth of incandescent lights, does that make me a dinosaur ?

For years, I've been using a floor standing magnifying lamp with an adjustable arm that I bought from JoAnn Fabrics. I believe that they still sell them for somewhere around $25-30 (be sure to use a coupon). I like that you can just use a regular bulb in the socket, so you can use one of those soft light versions, if other light bothers you. I've been using the GE REVEAL bulb that you can buy anywhere for about the price of any regular bulb. To me, the REVEAL bulb gives about the same natural light as the OTT light at much less the cost.

Check out allbrands.com. They have a magnifier lamp on sale for $49!! I believe there is an additional coupon code for a further reduction. Not a Dazor, but looks good!

I bought my Dazor from a local cross-stitch shop that's now long gone. I've had it for twenty years, I guess.

I opted for the floor stand and the table clamp, so I can move the lamp back and forth from the livingroom to my studio. The whole thing cost almost $500. It was worth every cent.

DH always used to complain that he hated having the lamp in the livingroom, because he said it made the room look like a dentist's office. One year I took it to music camp with me, and when I came back he said he'd missed it!

Finally, after complaining about how much he hated it and how it cost him $500 (it was a Christmas present), someone asked him why he bought it. He replied, "Because I knew that if I didn't, my life wouldn't be worth living!"

                        Happy wife, happy life.

                          http://us.daylightcompany.com/

I had a Dazor brand for cross stitching but the switch failed. I never liked the way you had to hold the switch down for the proper amount of time, in order for the light to flicker on. Last year I bought the Daylight brand. Instant on and a nice flicker free light. The thing I don't like is the wheeled base. Takes up way too much room. I like the table base better but oh my gosh it's heavy to move!

I have a Bernina Activa 145. I have the magnifying glass attachment. There are 3 different strengths marked D5,D6,D7 ( I believe). They just go over a hook that is covered by a gray ball on the bottom left side of the machine. I have used them and found they were helpful. I did notice on the box that it states if your machine has the new compact fluorescent sewing light installed, you must have your Bernina dealer install this magnifier.
