I am using EditorLite V5. I am thinking about upgrading.
But this issue comes from the EConPC portion.

I'm late to this thread because I'm a relatively new member. Here's my two cents on V5.

To learn software, all versions, online, in fabulous lessons with videos (that work most of the time & may require a plug-in on your computer), go to http://www.berninausa.com/ then to learn it, then to software, then to the Quarterly Software Society, click through several clicks to their lessons. The lessons must be downloaded. They are .zip files because they are huge. I save them to a large memory stick to save my hard disk space. You can then work through the lessons at the same time side by side in your software. I have found that some of the video links are iffy, but email tech support & they will fix them. The videos just repeat the information that is in print.

The lessons are for all levels of software. The more complex your version, the further you can go in the lesson. There are lessons on digitizing (Dover has a special on vector files right now), cross stitch, applique, the whole kit'N'kaboodle. When I couldn't sew because of my stupid shoulder, I worked through the lessons on my laptop & now feel like I really know the capabilities of software. I haven't stitched-out a lot on my 730, but my brain generally knows how it should be done. Additionally, the lessons give you files to work on. These lessons are really wonderful. You may not be spending so much money at embroideryonline.com because you will know how to make and digitize your own designs, or modify the ones you already own in new and creative ways!

P.S. I love the Designer V5 software. I am blown away by how complex it is, yet how easy it is to use, after working through these lessons. The lessons at the LQS are very similar, but they're a long way away and don't offer lessons at 2 a.m. Furthermore, for those of us that flunk the classes first time around, we don't have to pay tuition to take the same course over and over and over and over.....at 2 a.m. in the morning (grin).
      Happy Embroidering & Quilting! Susan

Don't you just love taking classes that really help in your jammies, or after work, or some other time when you don't have to go out to your LQS during work hours?
