Sewdreamy, I assume you are talking top thread tension down to 2.5ish. I haven't had a play with the tensions for thread yet but as it's just button pushing for the top, perhaps I will. I have lessened the foot pressure as recommended though.
KakeM I have the pedal to the metal in BSR1. Haven't made it over to 2 yet. Thought I'd better learn the first one first
What does BSR 2 have in store for me??

Kake, I use the BSR1 setting with my foot pedal. It makes it much more similiar to the mechanics of free motion quilting that I've always done, but with much more consistant stitch length!Originally posted by KakeMWhen you are using the foot pedal are you in BSR1 or BSR2 mode? I thought you had to disconnect the foot pedal to use the BSR? I have a 440QE. :?

Kake--I use the BSR1 and set it at the speed just between the lowest and half and no foot pedal. I find I can control it pretty well. I know there are those that get the speed high but I just don't do as well there. Oh, I have the stitch length at 1.5.

I tried some tips on great quilting with the BSR, set tension down to 1.5 and stitches were so small you couldnt see them!
My default is 2 on the 630, dont know if that makes a difference! ALSO tried slow speed aka Ritzy but then it kept beeping at me for going to fast, so you cant win! And by the way, this quilting business is more expensive than you realise, shut my Jack Russell in his crate so I could go and quilt and when I came back, noticed that the crate had been pushed up to my Welsh Dresser, and yes you guessed it, little b***** has chewed through bottom part of plinth and the carved molding on the front. Think I will just go and dispatch him now!
:x

Hmm, were you in BSR1 or BSR2? I think I am usually on BSR1 and it doesn't beep at me.

Can't you just turn the bell off? My machine allows you to turn it off, and I do, but I have to watch it not to go too fast...It's best at a somewhat slower pace than without the BSR, but it also allows you to do things more precisely that way.

Not tried the throwing across the room trick, but sounds expensive, as for the dogs, they better, but went to view the fish in the pond, or should I say, the pond without any fish. Seems like a heron had a really good breakfast. Thats twice now they have emptied it, so herons 25 (KOI that is) pond 0. WON'T BOTHER to restock as the herons will get so fat, they will fall out the sky and then we will be in trouble for harming the wildlife!!!!

Does anyone know of a good instructional DVD for learning the BSR? The one on the web site is way to short to be good and doesn't really answer questions that I have. I've checked the Bernina site and the stuff there is just trying to sell it to you. The info in the book that comes with the machine doesn't really help either. I've been practicing and practicing and practicing and its not going well
Thanks. Sandi in FL
