    dongle

I have lost my dongle to my Bernina software. I am frantic. Bernina will not replace it. They want me to buy a whole new software package. $2000. I don't think that is right.
Has anyone else gone through this

    #2
Who said Bernina will not replace it? Your dealer or Bernina USA?

Unless things have changed since January...

My dealer has replaced dozens of dongles. It costs about $100-150. There is a form you have to fill out and your dealer should have one.

    Let us know what happens.

The dongle is a security device that is inserted into a USB port prior to opening software. The software looks for the dongle while loading. If the dongle is not present the software doesn't start. It ensures that the software was purchased.

        Here's a link to a Wikipedia definition:
        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dongle

Bernina uses the dongles for their Bernina Embroidery Software and Explorations software.

Is it possible to buy it online through the Bernina website or another sewing website? Hope this helps.

they will only replace dongles that are broken, not lost.
I found the software on Ebay, pricey, but not as bad as 2000.
