    serger

Has anyone else bought one of the new Bernina sergers? I've always been "afraid" of sergers, especially the threading. Well, I've been taking the guide classes and this machine is a dream. It is so easy to thread and runs so smoothly. I've even bought a couple of the extra feet to go with it. There's so much you can do with these sergers. Just thought I'd express my enthusiasm.

I am fairly new to serging and love it also (although I confess to being a fan of a different brand for sergers). If you check my profile, there is a chalk fabric play mat with embroidered alphabet on it that I made for my grandson so he could practice his letters. The entire project was done on the serger so that it would be extra strong and hold up to a little boy's playtime. I'm also a huge fan of using it for two sided napkins to go with quilted table runners. Hope you continue to enjoy this part of sewing as much as I do!

Hi Folks, I bought a serger just before xmas, not a bernina one, one of the competitions!!!! however, I have only played with it so far as I am not quite sure why I bought it!!!!! what is the advantage of using one for quilting rather than a sewing machine? and can you suggest any sites with projects on that I could practise with???? Thanks in advance, Lynn in warmer UK

These are sites that I went to when I got my serger. I actually own a Brother and it has worked wonders on my work. Good luck!

Hi thanks for the tip, I must be a bit dense as I looked at the quilt, but cannot work out how it is sewn????? are you adding both back and front of quilt with the batting at the same time? If so, isnt the batting being cut??? Help?

I actually had my top together in rows and cut my backing and batting the same. So, I strip peiced the completed assembly. Make sure you have enough space around you to support the weight. otherwise it'll pull.

            Good luck!
