Photo Shop Elements class
Carla Barrett (aka The Quilt Whisperer) has a new web site for on-line classes! She is going to be teaching her QUILT WHISPERER Class again in January (2012), but before that she will be teaching a TABLET DESIGN class. In this new class, she will teach us how to use a tablet device with our computers to draw quilting designs.
In order to take the TABLET DESIGN class, you must know how to use PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS. The registration is now open for the October 10-30, 2011 BEGINNING PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS Class, taught by the Pixeladies. This is an excellent class that will help you learn to use PSE. I took it last year, and learned a lot!
The Pileladies are also going to teach a class about designing your own fabric! October 31-November 20, 2011 FABRIC DESIGN WITH PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS
Photoshop Elements software comes with the purchase of some tablets. The one I use is Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch: http://www.wacom.com/en/Products/Bam...nandTouch.aspx
but there are lots of them on the market.
I'll be signing up for the TABLET DESIGN class. Hope to "see" you there!
Check out Carla's new web site here: http://moodle.steponpins.com/

Hi Margo, thanks for the link for these classes! I just got a tablet, with Photoshop Elements, so I signed up for the first Photoshop class and am planning to take the tablet class when it becomes available. I'm definitely having fun with my tablet already (so are my kids! - I may have to get them one of their own), but I'm looking forward to all the tips and tricks I can learn from the classes

Good for you Tina! I learned a LOT in the last class!! Your kids will enjoy all the cool stuff that you will learn....they start you off with a "paper doll" and you get to dress them up using the PSE tools! The kids will love it!

I just got a note from Carla reminding me that registration is now open for a new class for PhotoShop Elements!
Check it out here: http://featheredfibers.wordpress.com/classes/schedule/
Like before, I highly recommend this class if you are interested in learning how to use PSE in your quilting projects!

I have to say that I'm quite frustrated with Adobe right now. I bought Photoshop Elements about a year ago. At that point, they were on version 7. It has worked with no problems until I just started the class today, and for some reason now I double-click on it and nothing happens. So I went to the Adobe web site for help, and they won't help me. Their help chat area won't help for versions older than the one before the current version (they happen to be at version 10 now). For help now, I can only go to their "experts" which I believe are just users in the community who might answer if they feel like it. So, it looks like they expect you to just keep buying the new versions as they put them out, which is pretty frequently. Which, in my mind, makes this "cheap" photo editing software pretty expensive!
Sorry to vent, but I think others should know what they are getting into with this product. I was very surprised at the response and will seriously reconsider whether to use this or move to something from another company. Since I'm already signed up for the class, I'm downloading the 30-day free trial of version 10 so I can do the class. But I'm pretty frustrated at this point!

Nancy...I used the trial program last spring when I took the class the first time. Then after
comparing...and as it came with my bamboo tablet... I elected to stay with the "8" . And haven't seen
a problem YET ! I suppose I'll have to update at a later time. I' m guessing that they just quit supporting
the older versions just like had happened with my Word Program !!  Pits !!
