Teeny Tiny Cutting Mat
Has anyone heard of or seen a tiny cutting mat, maybe 6" x 12"? It would go with my teeny tiny rotary cutter that is part of my Bernina Swiss knife sewer's model. As I piece in the hoop or applique, there are times I need to trim 1/4" seams. My most unfavorite thing about this technique is taking the hoop off the machine to trim especially when I could move the hoop to the side and easily trim with a bit of a mat. Sounds a bit nuts but it would work.

Libbi, I have the June Tailor cut and press. I bought it in US because it was a good value for money at the time, but didn't use it for several years. Now I'm doing the TQS BOM it is wonderful when trimming and pressing small blocks. DH has a cheap cutting made for making his model aircraft. I think it may be abit harder than our quilting mats though. It's approximately 8x11 inches. THis type of mat can be found over here in general craft stores or often hardware for about $7.50-8.
I hope that you find what you want.

Scrapbook supplies...now, why didn't I think of that????!!!! The Sew Easy mat I saw online has scalloped edges, not good for tiny trimming but there are others. I have the cut & press and it is too thick--I tried. Now the trick is to find the small mat here in Switzerland.
Thanks for reminding me to think outside the quilting box.

Do you have an old cutting mat that is no longer needed. You could possibly cut off a piece from it and make it the size needed. I had a small mat that my daughter left in her car and it warped from the heat. One end was still good, so I cut it off and use it when I don't need a larger one.

Does the knife set come with a first aid kit?
To answer the original question...I have a small cutting mat that has holes punched on the side to allow it to be carried in a 3-ring binder/notebook. The mat was very inexpensive. I purchased it in the scrapbook or craft area of a store. (It has been more than 10 years ago - so I have forgotten the source.) I believe that Fiskars is the brand name of the mat.
