Wacom Tablet
It was suggested that I post here about the Wacom Tablet that I mentioned in another forum topic.
Here is the link to the other topic: http://forum/everything-else/4208-ph...-class-on-line
And here is the link to the Wacom Tablet: http://www.wacom.com/bamboo/bamboo_pen_touch.php
It's an awesome tool that I use to audition quilting motifs on a photo of a quilt top. At this point, I'm just using Microsoft Paint, but am looking forward to being able to do more when I understand the Photoshop Elements software that comes with the Tablet.

I second that it is an awesome tool. I use primarily CorelPainter 11 to draw my art quilt designs. I think using it to audition quilting motifs is a great idea, though. I also use it in my Bernina software (though it doesn't do much more than you can do with a mouse, it's a little more natural handling), my EQ7 (again, about the same as with a regular mouse), and am trying to learn more about the updated Photoshop Elements. I got the Wacom Intuos4 because it has a bigger active surface and I'm using it for art quilts. My grandson (age 7) LOVES to play with it using the CorelPainter Sketchpad (a simple drawing software) that came bundled with the tablet.Originally posted by MargoIt was suggested that I post here about the Wacom Tablet that I mentioned in another forum topic.

I found I needed several days of learning how to use it to make it do what I wanted and the "help" buttons in the software were pretty good for all the software so far, but I frequently wish I had an expert I could turn to and ask "how do I make it do xxx". The tutorials on CorelPainter http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satelli.../1171405215200 are also very good.
Margo, I'll have to learn how to audition quilt designs. I have to figure out the quilting on my Knight quilt, particularly the sky and rolling grassy region. I normally just plunge in, but I need to figure out some better than average stippling/fill patterns for those areas.
I think the tablet will eventually result in advancing my art quilting enormously. I "painted" the horse and the face of the knight and printed it on fabric for applique. I found it was a little less intense than I wanted even after I increased the saturation, but that I could double print it (run it through twice) in my HP 9800 printer and it really did a great job on the fabric.
Isn't the new technology fantastic?

Yep... wacom is going to be the best bang for your buck. I currently have the 3 year old XP-Pen Star 06 painting tablet to do my photo editing in Photoshop. Provides for far more accurate retouching. I also no longer use a mouse and use the stylus for everything.
