A wonderful time to be a quilter!
Hi all. I was thinking about it after I heard Alex say something about hoping they never stop making freezer paper. I, too, hope they never stop making freezer paper. But I have a bunch of other things I hope they never stop making that makes my quilting better:
Freezer Paper
Children's washable glue and glue sticks
blue painter's tape
spray starch
Rowenta travel irons
printer fabrics and the printers that make them work, plus inks
Angelina fibers
hot-fix crystals
and lately I'm into oil stick paints...just a little bit
Then there's all the great quilt-specific things like the fabulous threads, wonderful battings, the wide selection of fabrics, and new advanced sewing machines, titanium needles, rulers and cutting mats, and on and on
Isn't it a wonderful time to be a quilter? What is your most favorite item you hope they don't stop making?

I know they will not make more of what I am thankful for - Ricky, Alex, Justin and John. I am so glad these four took the giant leap into cyber space and brought us this website. They have allowed us all to know one another all around the world. They have dragged some of us kicking and screaming into a new world of forums, twitters, facebooks and uploads. I thank all four of these forward thinking quilters and quilter supporters for the effort they make to keep us all happy, educated and entertained. Love to all. Betty Ann

When I think about what was available when I made my very first quilt (1964) in my little hometown of Kadoka, South Dakota.........
and what is available NOW at most LQS............
it makes me feel like my grandparents must have felt getting a telephone..........
and my parents felt having air travel become affordable...........
and my generation learning we can 'google' anything we want to know.......
and also makes me wonder what else is left to discover? ha

Great point Lynn! What is left to discover...I often think about my grandmother, who would be well into her hundreds today if she were alive and what SHE would feel if she could come to my home today and see my gadgets. She made quilts, but with 11 children, and more than 40 grandchildren (and my Mom was the youngest daughter), I didn't get any of them. They were utilitarian but lovely traditional scrap quilts. One wonders what she would think about my wall art quilts...I wonder if she'd laugh at their impractical nature.

Yes, it is quite a different world, isn't it? Sometimes I do wonder at the 'frivolity' we are able to have - I'm not wishing it away mind you - but we have such a life of ease compared to those who were living 100-200-300 years ago, whether America, Europe, Austrailia, Japan, Russia....oh, now I'm in trouble because I know I haven't named all the countries/continents that are represented on TQS! tee hee
And if we want to really get introspective, there are still large parts of our planet earth where getting food to mouth takes the whole waking day.
Yes, we are so fortunate, aren't we. Better get to work on that gratitude list again.
