Designing a border in EQ6
Does anyone know how to design a border in EQ6? I want to do a flying geese border on a quilt but when I go to add a border, I can either do a strip of fabric or pick one of their blocks. Since I'm not sure if a flying geese border would look good, I'd like to do it on paper first.Tags: None

Here's one way to do it....
*Under the "Borders" tab, choose "Blocks" as your border style and adjust these blocks to the size needed.
*On layer 1, go into the libraries and choose "Block Library."
*You can choose Option 1 which has the subcategory of "Simple Blocks". That contains some flying geese blocks. Or you can choose option 9 which contains other border blocks -- choose whatever you like and add it to your sketchbook.
*Place these blocks from your sketchbook into your design as you would any other block in your quilt.
Maybe there is an easier way, but that's how I usually get it done. Good luck! I hope that helps!

Just wondering--it took me a while to discover it--have you tried EQ6 auto borders. I think it's an optional button you have to add on the right, but not sure. There is one option with multiple flying geese borders. Use the HELP to figure out how to use it. I love their auto borders and found they are quite controllable by adjusting the number and size of the blocks. Hope this helps.

I just received EQ6 for Christmas. I had EQ5 but never learned to use it much. I spent several hours yesterday listening and watching all the videos. It was very helpful! I plan on trying the lessons next and taking a couple of classes that are coming up at my LQS.
Maybe we should have a separate spot to discuss Electric Quilt. I think there might be lots of things to discuss.

go to http://www.quiltuniversity.com Great classes for EQ. They fill up fast but get on their mailing list and sign up as soon as it opens. You can do it in your PJs and don't have to take your computer anywhere.

I've gotta check out quilt university, I've heard about it before. I have another question for all you EQ6 users out there. Bridget sent me an EQ6 file of the 2009 BOM. I'm working with my son to pick fabrics. He wants me to subdivide the setting triangles. But when I go into EQ6, I can't figure out how to work on an individual block. I was able to use the paintbrush tool to change the fabrics to the ones I scanned for the star, but I can't change a block. Anyone know how to do that? :?: :?: Thanks, Frances in Austin where it is 58 today (that's after a cold front came through last night   )

This is a bit late, but if you haven't figured it out already, to work on a block you need to find it in your Sketchbook under blocks, and then click on Edit. That will open the block on the Block worktable, and you can add lines, or do what ever other editing you would like to do with the block.
