    PQF thimbles -

I have found a site that does a thimble made of rubber - I have just received one and am very pleased with it. It does seem to make hand sewing faster; I would recommend it - it is comfortable to wear and there is no slipping of the needle, neither does it fall off your finger because it is slightly grippy. The website is:

I might look into this! All of my thimbles slip off--even the jelly thimbles. I think I need about three different sizes. Judy

I have got a couple in different sizes - I have also got every thimble known to man - all the metal ones either fall off or are too tight! I have probably got enough equipment to open a shop, I have also got frames in various types and every type of needle going!

 If I bought one of these I might be able to put a little less blood and tears into my quilts. The tears I don't mind but the blood leaves stains at times. My self blood letting during my applique sessions could stop and I may just start enjoy the process.

I think these thimbles are really good - they seem quite bulky at first because the rubber is fairly thick - but it is the 'give' in the rubber that seems to help with the hand-sewing, sort of a bit like wearing a cushioned shoe!

Interesting... but am I missing something? I couldn't find a price anywhere on the site...

You have to order one to find that the price is $25. I HATE SITES THAT DO THAT!!! And I hate paying so much money for a piece of rubber that probably cost 8 cents to manufacture. (or 8K for a sewing machine, for that matter!)

I had to do the same thing and it put me off to have to pretend like I wanted to buy it in order to locate a price. I love to buy thimbles because I always hope the next one will be the ONE! $25 for this one was more than was comfortable for me.

I have several of these in various sizes, in the winter my fingers are smaller, my yo-yo dieting doesn't help. I LOVE these, and think you get what you pay for. Their customer service is amazing - replacements with no problem. I have long nails, and these accommodate my nails perfectly, and don't fall off! I really can't live without these.

Hmmmm....I see the price right on the front page:

I have one and really like it.

The original post was from 2008, so maybe they realized that they had left the price off and added it in. Just guessing...

I'll have to have a look at these thimbles. I don't generally use a thimble because I find them very awkward, but am always looking for something since my finger can get pretty ripped up.
